Steel Path Weapons That Actually Kill Things in 2026

Last Updated on September 7, 2026

Take Torid Incarnon in your primary slot, Dual Toxocyst Incarnon in your secondary, and Praedos in melee, and you’ll clear Steel Path missions without leaning on a specific Warframe to carry the build. All three are free. No trading, no platinum, just the weekly Duviri Circuit and a handful of Forma.

Reviewed September 2026, current through Update 43.5 “Amir’s Shockwave.” That patch touched Nightwave and a couple of frame abilities and left every weapon number alone, so this list holds going into Citrine Prime’s September 23 launch.

Best steel path primary weapons

Torid Incarnon is the primary almost everyone lands on eventually. Its Incarnon mode fires a continuous Toxin beam that chains to up to five enemies at once, as long as each is within about 7 meters of the last. Each jump keeps 75% of the previous hit’s damage, and the wiki lists a 37-meter range and a 2.3-meter damage radius on the beam itself, which is plenty to clear a packed corridor without lining up individual headshots.

  • Torid Incarnon chains a Toxin beam across a crowd and barely loses damage per jump, so it doesn’t much care where you’re aiming
  • Felarx Incarnon: burst shotgun-pistol hybrid, better for one-shotting a tanky priority target than clearing a room
  • Phenmor Incarnon, from the Zariman weapon line, charges fast and hits hard on a single target
  • Latron Incarnon: old reliable. Take the Flensing Spikes evolution and every Puncture proc strips 20% armor, no energy or combo-counter upkeep involved
  • Nataruk: unlimited ammo, MR 0, free from finishing The New War. The honest budget pick

For Torid, prioritize Final Fusillade at Evolution II (+51 base damage and +3 multishot on your last magazine shot before reload), Extended Volley at Evolution III (+9 magazine capacity so the beam mode doesn’t cut out mid-fight), and Commodore’s Fortune at Evolution IV (+20% critical chance). Layer Galvanized Chamber and Galvanized Aptitude on top for on-kill multishot and status scaling and you genuinely don’t need a damage-boosting frame ability to make this work.

Nataruk won’t out-damage Torid past level 200, but there’s no ammo economy to manage and nothing to trade for. It carries you through everything below that ceiling while you farm Duviri for the good stuff.

One weapon that’s conspicuously not on this list is Ignis Wraith. It still mows down trash fine, but explosive and radial damage only gets a 1x headshot multiplier and can’t trigger headshot-linked status conditions, so it falls off hard against precision picks once enemies climb past level 100. A couple of ranking sites still list it top tier out of habit. Don’t build around it for Steel Path specifically.

Best steel path secondary weapons

The secondary slot has a real argument instead of a clean answer. Dual Toxocyst Incarnon and Laetum Incarnon each have people who’ll swear theirs is the only one worth building, and neither of them is wrong exactly.

  • Dual Toxocyst Incarnon turns full-auto at 4.5 shots a second, and every shot ricochets to a second enemy within 5 meters, best for clearing a group by itself
  • Laetum Incarnon: huge single-target burst that rewards headshot kills with a damage buff on the follow-up shot
  • Kuva Nukor is a non-Incarnon chaining beam with a 5x crit multiplier, still relevant if you haven’t unlocked either Incarnon yet
  • Sporelacer or Catchmoon: Kitguns built from standing, zero trading required

Dual Toxocyst’s ricochet means every trigger pull works two enemies at once, and the bounce can land headshots, which keeps its Frenzy fire rate buff running without you ever moving the reticle. That’s why it edges out Laetum for pure crowd control. Laetum still wins if you’re already chaining melee finishers and want a secondary that punishes every headshot with extra damage on the next shot. Pick based on how you already play, not on whichever tier list you read first.

Either weapon wants crit-focused Galvanized mods, Galvanized Shot especially, over flat damage mods. Kuva Nukor is a fine stopgap while you’re still farming Incarnon adapters, since the Kuva Lich that drops it is RNG but the weapon itself needs no trading once it’s yours.

Sporelacer and Catchmoon skip the Incarnon grind completely. Both are Kitguns built from parts bought with standing, Business in Fortuna or Rude Zuud on Deimos if you’ve already been running bounties for Entrati standing. No relics, no waiting on a trade partner.

Best steel path melee weapons

Praedos is the melee weapon Kullervo comes with, and it’s good enough that plenty of people farm it without ever touching his kit. It runs its own evolution system instead of the standard Incarnon Genesis one: build your combo counter to 5x and heavy attack to transform, or just 3x once you’ve taken the Swift Transmute evolution. It holds top rank across every independent list that checked it.

  • Praedos transforms off the combo counter plus a heavy attack, with strong mobility perks on top of top-end damage
  • Nikana Prime: clean crit and status scaling that’s held up for years
  • Glaive Prime throws for AoE, then catches and swings for melee. Its relics are vaulted right now, so plan on trading for parts or waiting out a Prime Resurgence rotation
  • Kronen Prime: the closest thing to a do-everything melee, built around Blood Rush and Weeping Wounds
  • Dual Ichor or Ceramic Dagger Incarnon: cheap, and either reaches top tier with the right mods

Melee scaling in Steel Path still runs through your combo counter. Blood Rush turns combo into critical chance, Weeping Wounds turns it into status chance, and Condition Overload multiplies damage for every status effect already stacked on the target. Get those three mods on a weapon before you worry about which weapon it is. A correctly modded Dual Ichor clears Steel Path fine. A badly modded Praedos doesn’t.

Nikana Prime, Glaive Prime and Kronen Prime all come from relics, though Glaive Prime’s are vaulted as of this writing, so for that one it’s trade chat or a Varzia Prime Resurgence rotation. For the other two it’s the usual choice: farm them yourself, or buy the parts. Our relic farming guide covers the fastest neo, lith, meso and axi rotations if you’re going that route. If you’d rather buy, check what a full set is actually going for with our prime price checker before you commit plat, and read our trading guide first if you haven’t used warframe.market before.

Praedos comes from Kullervo, one of the more recent additions to the roster. If you want to see where he lands relative to everything else, our release order timeline has the full list. You don’t need to main him to get value out of his signature weapon.

Incarnon weapons worth farming

Every weapon above with “Incarnon” in the name works the same way structurally, even when the numbers differ. You install a free Incarnon Genesis adapter, land enough headshots or precision kills in a mission to trigger a transformed fire mode, and that transformed mode does the actual killing. The adapters aren’t sold for plat and they don’t drop from anything you’d farm through normal missions.

The Duviri Paradox update key art

You get them from Cavalero in the Chrysalith, the Zariman hub, after finishing weekly Steel Path Duviri Circuit runs. Two adapters a week, no trading involved, and the Circuit is the only source for the standard set: Torid, Latron, Dual Toxocyst, Ceramic Dagger, and the rest of the list.

Each adapter unlocks a small evolution tree as you use the weapon. Torid’s is well documented down to the exact numbers. That’s why we quoted them above. Trees for newer additions like Praedos are thinner on public documentation, so check the wiki page for the specific weapon before you sink Forma into a particular evolution path. Patch notes don’t always call out these adjustments when they happen.

Brysko, the frame announced alongside the Tau expansion, doesn’t have a signature weapon revealed as of this writing, so nothing here accounts for it yet. We’ve got what’s known so far on our Brysko page, and we’ll fold in the weapon once Tau actually ships.

Budget steel path loadout that still clears

You don’t need a single traded item to run Steel Path competently. Nataruk primary, Sporelacer or Catchmoon secondary, and Ceramic Dagger or Dual Ichor Incarnon melee gets you through the Steel Path Circuit, Netracells and Steel Path Index runs without spending a platinum.

  • Nataruk, free from finishing The New War
  • Sporelacer or Catchmoon, Kitguns built from Fortuna or Deimos standing
  • Ceramic Dagger Incarnon, cheap market blueprint, top tier once modded correctly
  • Dual Ichor Incarnon, clan dojo research, with its adapter in the same Circuit rotation

What actually costs money in this loadout is Forma and mod ranks, not the weapons themselves. Run credit-heavy content like the Index to keep mod fusion funded. Our Index farming breakdown covers the fastest wager and betting setup. Stockpile Nitain Extract early too. A handful of weapon and Warframe blueprints still ask for it, and it doesn’t show up on every alert rotation.

If you do end up with spare platinum or ducats, check Baro Ki’Teer’s current inventory before spending anywhere else. His Primed mods (Primed Pistol Gambit and Primed Heated Charge both slot straight into a Kitgun build) only cycle through every so often, and half of what he sells is cosmetic, so the good rows are easy to scroll past. The other Kitgun upgrade worth knowing about is a Pax Arcane like Pax Charge or Pax Bolt, and those come from Rude Zuud in Fortuna for standing, not from Baro.
