The Gauss Warframe will be making its arrival into the game pretty soon, DE Rebecca has confirmed that the mainline update will be coming in the month of August. That means we have only a few days left for the update to arrive. Both Gauss and Grendel were revealed in Tennocon and all the tennos were pretty hyped-up about it.
People on Reddit and Warframe Forums have been saying that this might make frames such as Rhino, Volt and Nezha stale. I’ve covered his abilities at the end of this article.
Gauss does look a little similar to Volt and has his mobile abilities with AOE damage as well. The best part? it can tank a lot of enemy damage, this might be the end-game volt that people have been asking for.

We don’t have any exact date of release for Gauss as of now, we will be updating this as soon as we have official information.

Gauss’s Abilities
His abilities were recently shown in a dev live stream on Twitch. Below is my understanding of the same. Detailed information will be published once the mainline update is pushed by Digital Extremes.
Passive: Gauss uses the gauge as a secondary resource that powers most of his abilities; moving around in the fields will fill up this gauge slowly. It will also drain based on the usage of other abilities. Seems like all his abilities will work around this resource.
Mach Rush: Tap 1 to dash forward at fast speeds, hold the same to continue running at high speeds. While running this ability will create AOE around Gauss that will deal damage to enemies near proximity. Slamming into a wall will create a radial wave dealing huge damage. Might be useful while trying to attack a group of enemies.
Kinetic Plating: Upon activation, Gauss takes reduced physical damage (Slash, Puncture, Impact), Cold, and Heat damage). With every hit, the damage is reduced, this will drain certain amounts of energy from his Gauge. The barrier sounds like a tank based ability similar to Rhino’s Iron Skin or Nezha’s Warding Halo.
Thermal Sunder: This ability manipulates Gauss AOE radius, creating an area with extreme temperates for a certain duration. Tap 3 to absorb kinetic energy, boosting Gauss’s gauge and creating an area that procs cold status on all enemies within the range. Tapping again will switch this damage to heat and ignite the enemies around Gauss. Doing both of these in quick succession will combine Cold + Heat dealing Blast damage to the enemies.
Redline: Gauss’s Ultimate that overclocks his gauge; grants bonus damage, reload speed, movement speed, and melee attack speed. Opens up his thermal vents that expel damage-dealing projectiles on enemies.
Warframe Gauss Farming Guide
Gauss parts will drop from the newly added game mode called Disruption. Players can load into disruption to farm the Gauss Parts.
Head to Sedna/Kelpie (Disruption)
Drop Chances of Gauss Parts
You can obtain the Gauss blueprint from the market for 30,000 credits or the fully crafted frame for 325 platinum. The other parts can be farmed from the Disruption missions.
- Gauss Chassis Blueprint – Uncommon (10.00%)
- Gauss Neuroptics Blueprint – Uncommon (10.00%)
- Gauss Systems Blueprint – Uncommon (10.00%)
All three parts have a chance of 10% to drop in Rotation C so make sure to stay and complete those missions. As far as I know, you cannot take any >level 30 gear in these missions. I might be wrong, I will be updating this.

The frame is likely to be tied to a quest that will be coming with the mainline update. The quest steps and the way to obtain Gauss and Grendel will be updated here shortly after the patch drops.
Seems like Gauss will be a duration based tanky frame that can be used for certain good things. I am not sure yet for which mission this frame might be best, I will be doing some testing once this frame drops in-game and update here.
