Warframe FPS Doctor (2026): Answer Three Questions, Get the Right Fix

Three questions, one fix page: settings, CPU, shader cache, network, crash or launcher

Last Updated on October 18, 2026

The short answer

Pick the symptom, the machine and what the counters show, and the doctor hands you one page to follow. It uses the same rule as the fix list: low FPS everywhere is a settings load, drops when a room fills are the CPU, hitches are the shader cache or an overlay, teleporting enemies are the network. Free fixes first, in the order that works.

How to read the counters before you answer

  1. Options, Display: Show FPS On. It prints frame time, RAM, VRAM and ping in the corner of the screen.
  2. Alt-Tab to Task Manager, Performance, while a room is full. GPU near 100 percent means the graphics settings are the limit. GPU under 90 percent with the frame time spiking means the CPU is.
  3. A ping over 150 with good internet is the host, not you. Matchmaking Ping Limit at 150 or lower keeps you out of those squads.
  4. Test twice: a solo Exterminate (GPU-bound) and a four-player relic run or a Relay (CPU-bound). The one that drops tells you which page you need.

The doctor

1What does it feel like?
2What are you playing on?
3With Show FPS on and Task Manager open in a fight, what do you see?

Answer all three and the fix appears here.

Still dropping frames? Our own tool

CPUCores: Maximize Your FPS

If you’ve worked through the settings above and still get stutter, the bottleneck is often background processes stealing CPU time from the game. CPUCores isolates Windows and background tasks onto separate cores so your game gets the rest. It launches straight from Steam and detects your library automatically.

Tips that save runs

  • Verify, then Optimize the download cache in the launcher before anything else. It is free and it fixes more than it should.
  • On DirectX 12 the first run after an update hitches while shaders compile; give it one mission before you change anything.
  • Relays, squad relic runs and open worlds are the CPU-bound cases; a solo Exterminate is GPU-bound. Test both before you buy hardware.

Mistakes that waste runs

  • Buying a bigger GPU for a game that runs a GTX 1660 at hundreds of frames; the CPU is the usual wall in fights.
  • Blaming DE for host migrations while playing on Wi-Fi.
  • Lowering texture quality for stutter; textures cost VRAM, not frame time, on any card made in the last five years.
