Warframe is rated Playable on Steam Deck, and it is genuinely good once set up. Two profiles: 60 FPS (800p, Low preset, FSR 3.1 Balanced) for a session at the desk, or 40 FPS with a 12 W TDP for about two and a half hours on battery. The launcher wants Desktop Mode the first time, and the Duviri quest is the known crash spot; the workaround is Proton Experimental and the Deck’s frame limiter off.

Setup that avoids the known problems
- Install from Steam, then switch to Desktop Mode for the first launch: the launcher is built for a mouse and its buttons are hard to hit with the trackpad in Gaming Mode.
- In the launcher, Verify and Optimize once, set DirectX 12, then return to Gaming Mode.
- Properties, Compatibility: force Proton Experimental if the game crashes in cutscenes or Duviri.
- Quick Access menu: frame limiter off, and cap inside the game instead; the double cap causes stutter.
- Controls: the default layout maps everything; put the gyro on right-trackpad touch for aim and it feels like a mouse.
- If keyboard and mouse stop working with a controller attached, that is Steam Input taking over; disable Steam Input for the game in Properties.
