Hit the crystal with Operator Void damage, guard Loid, then match the door symbols

The short answer
The crystal only reacts to Void damage, so you do this step as the Operator: hit the crystal on the plinth in front of the vault door with an Amp shot. That spawns Loid, who you defend while he opens the door. Then you hit the door crystals in the order of the symbols. Three wrong tries lock the vault, and without Transference from The War Within you cannot finish the step at all.

Step by step
- Take an Isolation Vault bounty from Mother in the Necralisk or at one of her outposts in the Cambion Drift. Do the plain tiers in order, Tier 1 first.
- Clear the bounty stages and kill the Necramech guards at the vault. Do not leave through the Esophage yet, because that skips the bonus.
- Find the vault door and switch to your Operator. This needs Transference from The War Within.
- Hit the Reactive Crystal on the plinth in front of the door with Void damage, such as an Amp shot. Loid spawns and starts walking to the door keys.
- Defend Loid from the Infested that keep spawning. If he is hurt, hit him with an Amp shot or Void Sling to heal him 500 health.
- When Loid is back at the door, read the symbol pattern on it. You only get a brief moment before you must act.
- Hit the nearby Reactive Crystals with Void damage in the order of the symbols, top to bottom.
- Grab the vault loot. Solving the cipher completes the bonus and adds a roll on the reward table.
Secret rooms use the same crystals
- Many vaults hide extra rooms behind Reactive Crystals. Void damage reveals the doors, statues or portals.
- Secret rooms always hold a Deimos Captura scene and sometimes an inactive Necramech you can commandeer.
Tips that save runs
- Keep the Operator loadout ready before you reach the door. Switching late costs time while Loid is under attack.
- Only Void damage triggers a Reactive Crystal, so keep the Amp charged and ready.
- Look for Reactive Crystals in the rest of the vault too. They open secret rooms with a Captura scene.
Mistakes that waste runs
- Taking the Esophage out as soon as the Necramechs die. That exits the vault and skips the bonus.
- Guessing the symbol order. Failing does not change the pattern, but three failures lock the vault for good.
- Trying to do the step without Transference. Players who have not finished The War Within have no way to complete it.
