Vasto Prime

Build and guide

Build it if you already own it or can grab the free Incarnon adapter: the Deathtrap Trigger evolution turns a middling 22/22 crit pistol into a real burst-damage sidearm. The real weakness is the 6-round mag and semi-auto cap, which leave it behind beam/auto secondaries like Kuva Nukor on raw DPS.

Unique trait: Incarnon Genesis: Deathtrap Trigger

Vasto Prime takes a free Incarnon Genesis adapter: land 8 weakpoint hits to fill the gauge, then alt-fire into a 6-round burst mode with boosted crit stats. The Deathtrap Trigger evolution adds flat damage and grants a short crit chance and crit multiplier spike when you swap to it straight from your primary.

Vasto Prime is the primed version of the MR10 semi-auto Vasto revolver, in the game since 2016, and in 2026 it matters mainly for its free Incarnon Genesis adapter, whose Deathtrap Trigger evolution spikes crit chance and crit multiplier when you swap to it from your primary weapon.

How to get the Vasto Prime

  1. Check Varzia at Maroo’s Bazaar (Prime Resurgence) for a current Vasto Prime relic or blueprint offer using Regal Aya; availability rotates.
  2. If it’s not in rotation, trade with other players for the Vasto Prime Blueprint, Barrel, and Receiver, or run Void Fissure missions with the relics that drop them (confirm exact relic names on the in-game Relic screen or Warframe Market since vaulted relic pools change).
  3. Build it in the Foundry: roughly 15,000 credits, 10 Orokin Cells, 1 Prime Barrel, 1 Prime Receiver, about 12 hours (or rush with platinum).
  4. For Incarnon: finish The Duviri Paradox and Angels of the Zariman, unlock Steel Path, then either buy the Vasto Incarnon Genesis adapter from Cavalero for platinum or pick it as one of your two weekly Tier 5/10 Steel Path Circuit adapter rewards.
  5. Install the adapter at Cavalero in the Chrysalith (costs Pathos Clamps and other Circuit resources), then level through the 4 evolution tiers by playing the weapon to unlock evolution challenges.

Prime parts are tradeable between players even while vaulted, so buying the Blueprint/Barrel/Receiver set on trade chat or Warframe Market is often faster than farming old relics. It already ships with two Madurai polarities, so a Catalyst is a good early investment once you commit to forma-ing it for Incarnon.

Riven disposition sits at 1.35, near the top of the scale for a secondary, but a riven isn’t mandatory since the free Incarnon evolutions already patch most of the base weapon’s damage and crit gaps.

Builds

Vasto Prime runs as a Viral crit hybrid: Hornet Strike, Barrel Diffusion, Lethal Torrent, Pistol Gambit, Target Cracker, and Galvanized Crosshairs push its 22% crit chance into consistent 2.4x hits. Deep Freeze and Pathogen Rounds combine into Viral so its 22% status chance also strips armor and shields on tougher enemies.

ModWhy it’s here
Hornet StrikeFlat damage foundation that scales up before Vasto Prime’s crit and status rolls multiply it.
Barrel DiffusionMultishot gives each semi-auto trigger pull more chances to land Vasto Prime’s 22% crit and 22% status rolls.
Lethal TorrentExtra multishot plus fire rate lets the revolver squeeze more crit and status procs out of its semi-auto cycle.
Pistol GambitPushes the 22% base crit chance higher so Vasto Prime lands crits often enough to matter.
Target CrackerBoosts crit damage so hits at Vasto Prime’s 2.4x multiplier become real burst damage.
Galvanized CrosshairsAdds crit chance against status-afflicted enemies, letting the even 22/22 split feed itself into bigger crits.
Deep FreezeSupplies the Cold half of Viral so status procs strip effective health on shielded or armored targets.
Pathogen RoundsSupplies the Toxin half of Viral, giving Vasto Prime’s physical impact/puncture/slash kit the elemental combo it needs against armor.

Secondary Deadhead is the top pick since it stacks bonus damage on headshot kills, which fits a revolver already landing headshots for its Incarnon gauge; Secondary Merciless is the cheaper alternative since it stacks off any kill instead of requiring headshots.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Solid 22% crit chance and strong 2.4x multiplier for the secondary slot
  • Free Incarnon Genesis adapter adds a burst-fire mode plus a crit spike on primary-to-secondary swaps
  • Fast 1-second reload despite the small magazine
  • High 1.35 riven disposition means rivens roll big
  • Cheap to forma and gear up once you have the parts

Cons

  • Tiny 6-round magazine before Incarnon evolutions kick in
  • Semi-auto trigger caps its DPS ceiling against automatics and beam secondaries
  • Outclassed on raw damage by top meta picks like Kuva Nukor or Laetum
  • Currently vaulted, so getting the base parts means trading or hunting old relics

Vasto Prime is for MR10+ players who want a cheap crit secondary that gets good once the Incarnon adapter is slotted, not players chasing the top of the DPS charts.
