Build it if you already own it or catch a Prime Resurgence window: the free Incarnon Genesis and a 200-round crit/slash magazine that almost never needs a reload make it worth a slot. The native 10% status chance is too low to carry a proc build alone, and the base weapon is fully vaulted so you cannot farm it this week.
Fire rate ramps from 25% to 100% of base over the first four rounds, so holding the trigger beats tap-firing. Landing 20 weakpoint hits and hitting Alt Fire swaps it into an 8x-multishot auto-shotgun with its own 200-round pseudo-magazine, plus Evolution perks for punch through past 450 armor, overshield on slash-status kills, and up to +0.6x crit multiplier.
Soma Prime is Digital Extremes’ MR7 hybrid rifle with a 200-round magazine and 800 reserve ammo, vaulted since November 2016 but still relevant in 2026 through the free Soma Incarnon Genesis adapter that turns it into a tight-spread auto-shotgun.
How to get the Soma Prime
- Confirm current status: Soma Prime is vaulted, so its relics do not drop from missions right now.
- Check whether Soma Prime is in the current Prime Resurgence rotation at Varzia (in relays); if it is, trade Aya for its specific relics or for a Regal Aya bundle of the finished parts.
- If it is not in rotation, either wait for a future Prime Resurgence cycle or trade with other players on Warframe Market for the individual Prime parts (blueprint, barrel, receiver, stock) – the assembled weapon itself cannot be traded.
- Run Void Fissure missions with the acquired relics, using Void Traces to refine to Radiant for better part odds.
- Build in the Foundry: 15,000 Credits, 1 Prime Barrel, 1 Prime Receiver, 1 Prime Stock, 10 Orokin Cells, 12-hour craft time (or rush with Platinum).
- For the Incarnon upgrade: complete The Duviri Paradox and Angels of the Zariman, then unlock The Steel Path.
- Earn the Soma Incarnon Genesis from a Steel Path Circuit rotation (check the in-game Circuit reward list, rotations change over time) or buy it once from Cavalero in the Chrysalith for 120 Platinum.
- Install it with Cavalero using 20 Pathos Clamps, 60 Rune Marrow, and 60 Silphsela, then unlock Evolution perks by completing the weapon’s specific in-game challenges.
Only the unassembled Prime parts (blueprint, barrel, receiver, stock) trade player to player, never the finished weapon. The 120-platinum Incarnon Genesis buy from Cavalero is a one-time convenience purchase, so a second copy of the adapter has to come from Circuit RNG again.

Riven disposition sits at a middling 1.1x (3 of 5 pips), so a riven is a nice-to-have for pushing crit chance or multishot further, not a requirement, since the base 30% crit chance at 3x multiplier already carries the weapon.
Builds
Soma Prime is a crit-primary build running 30% crit chance at a 3x multiplier, with a mediocre 10% status chance that still lands procs constantly thanks to 15 rounds per second of sustained fire. Stack flat crit chance and crit damage, layer Viral (Cold plus Toxin) for Steel Path targets, and run Hunter Munitions to turn the 50% slash base into bonus crits, picking Galvanized Chamber over Split Chamber since its crit chance bonus scales with the status stacks the fire rate generates.

Rifle
| Mod | Why it’s here |
|---|---|
| Serration | Flat base damage is the mandatory floor before any crit or elemental scaling matters. |
| Galvanized Chamber | Its multishot and crit chance bonus scale with status stacks, and Soma Prime’s fire rate keeps those stacks refreshed. |
| Point Strike | Pushes the base 30% crit chance toward a reliable crit floor for sustained fire. |
| Vital Sense | Amplifies the already-strong 3x crit multiplier so crits actually hit hard. |
| Critical Delay | Adds both crit chance and status chance in one slot, directly patching the weapon’s weak 10% base status. |
| Hunter Munitions | The 50% slash base throws slash procs constantly, and each one converts to a guaranteed critical hit. |
| Primed Cryo Rounds | Supplies the Cold half of a Viral combo for consistent damage into high-level armor and shields. |
| Malignant Force | Supplies the Toxin half of Viral, the standard elemental pairing for endurance content. |
Primary Merciless is best in slot, stacking a flat damage bonus per kill up to 12 times and staying topped off thanks to the 200-round magazine and 15-round-per-second fire rate, while Arcane Primary Charger from the Arbitrations vendor for 10 Vitus Essence is the cheaper, melee-kill-triggered alternative.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- Rare among vaulted primaries to get a free Incarnon upgrade, giving it two distinct viable modes
- 200-round magazine on 800 reserve ammo means it almost never needs a reload mid-fight
- 30% crit chance at a 3x multiplier scales cleanly with standard crit mods
- 50% slash base damage procs reliably and synergizes hard with Hunter Munitions
- Incarnon Form’s 8x-multishot auto-shotgun mode adds real on-demand burst
Cons
- Fully vaulted: no direct relic farming right now, must wait on Prime Resurgence or trade for parts
- Native 10% status chance is weak and needs real mod investment to matter outside Incarnon mode
- Spool-up ramp means the first half-second of any engagement undershoots the weapon’s own DPS numbers
- Riven disposition (1.1) is middling, no huge headroom for a jackpot roll
This is for returning or veteran players who already own Soma Prime, or are willing to wait for a Prime Resurgence window, and want a reliable crit/slash hybrid rifle with a free Incarnon option, not for a new player chasing fast MR fodder or the current top-tier Incarnon meta like Torid or Phenmor.
