Ruinous Effigy quest just dropped with the latest reset, players are busy farming for the weapon. The quest is long and will take a while for most players to complete. One thing that most might not know about it, that there’s a catalyst as well for the gun.
The Ruinous Effigy is the newest weapon in Destiny 2. The Trace rifle can turn enemies into void transmutation spheres, these can be picked up and used as weapons.
How To Get Ruinous Effigy Catalyst
Upon killing an enemy, void transmutation spheres will drop, these can be used as a weapon as mentioned above. Just collect one and throw it on an enemy. When you do this for the first time, the catalyst will drop for you.
To Complete the Catalyst – Destroy 50 Savathun Eyes or Takedown 5000 enemies step which will take a lot of time. I’d recommend you to go for any activity that has a huge load of enemies. I’ve tried doing blind well, but that was not helping much. My friend loaded into the last wish using Wish 4 and was able to progress a lot.

At this point I am not sure what the catalyst does, I will make sure to update this section once I have completed the step. The obvious thing would be the generation of orbs on multikills.
