Saryn and Saryn Prime

The verdict

Saryn is still one of the best room-clear frames in Steel Path, and Update 43 (Jade Shadows: Constellations) didn’t change a single number on her kit. It didn’t need to. The 2024 Jade Shadows armor rework rewards partial Corrosive strip, Spores runs on Corrosive, and she’s been overperforming ever since. Base Saryn is cheap and fast to build. Saryn Prime is back in the vault and missing from the active Prime Resurgence rotation, so unless you already own her or you’re willing to trade for her parts, base Saryn does nearly the same job while you wait.

Saryn stats: base vs Prime

Stat (max rank)SarynSaryn Prime
Health465465
Shield370370
Armor240315
Energy225300
Sprint Speed0.951.0

Health and shield are identical between the two. Prime pulls ahead on armor, energy pool, and sprint speed, and that gap matters more than the numbers suggest: the extra 75 energy is exactly one more Miasma cast, and the extra armor buys her the seconds she needs to survive before Spores strips a room down. Saryn Prime runs Naramon, Vazarin, and Madurai polarities.

How to get Saryn and Saryn Prime

Base Saryn’s blueprints drop from Kela De Thaym, the assassination boss on Merrow (Sedna). Chassis and Neuroptics each drop at roughly 38.7%, Systems at 22.6%, so a couple of runs usually gets you the full set. If you’d rather skip the boss fight, her blueprints are also available through The Circuit in Duviri. The full farming walkthrough covers both routes in detail.

Saryn Prime is a different situation. She first entered the Prime Vault in December 2017 and has only come back in short windows since: a 2019 unvaulting alongside Valkyr Prime, then a handful of Prime Resurgence rotations, most recently January 2024. As of today her relics aren’t part of the active Resurgence rotation: that’s currently Banshee Prime and Mirage Prime, announced September 3, 2026. Until Digital Extremes brings her back through a future Resurgence pass, the only ways to get her are trading Platinum or vaulted relics for her parts on the market, or buying an already-built Warframe outright. Check our relic farming guide for how vaulted sets work, our trading guide for how to actually make the trade, and Prime price check before you commit any Platinum.

Saryn abilities

Saryn’s entire kit exists to serve one combo: infect a room with Spores, then detonate it with Miasma. Everything else just keeps that loop running longer: Molt’s survivability, Toxic Lash’s melee buff.

Passive

Status effects Saryn inflicts on enemies last 25% longer than they would from any other frame. It’s a quiet passive, but it stacks with everything Spores and Toxic Lash are already doing, and it’s part of why her Corrosive and Toxin procs feel like they linger forever in a Steel Path crowd.

Key numbers: status duration +25%.

Spores

Cast on an enemy and the infection spreads on its own to anyone nearby, dealing Corrosive damage per second that ramps the more enemies get infected. This is the setup ability, not the payoff, so don’t expect it to kill on its own early. The catch is that Spores decay fast once every infected host dies, so you need to keep enemies alive long enough for it to spread, or keep recasting.

Key numbers: 25 energy. Initial damage 6/8/8/10 Corrosive per second by rank, growing 1/1.25/1.5/2 per infected enemy per second, capped at 7 infected. Cast range 30/40/50/60m, spread radius 10/12/14/16m, 50% Corrosive status chance.

Molt

Drops a decoy that pulls enemy aggro off you, cleanses whatever status effects you’re carrying, and buys you a short invulnerability window plus a burst of movement speed to reposition. It’s Saryn’s entire panic button in one cast. When the decoy dies or its timer runs out, it explodes for a solid chunk of Toxin damage, which is a nice bonus but not the reason you’re casting it.

Key numbers: 50 energy. Decoy health 150/300/400/500 plus 400 shields, duration 14/24/32/40s. Invulnerability on cast 1.5/2/3/3s, cleanses status. Explodes for 240/300/350/400 Toxin damage (100% proc) in a 5/6/7/10m radius. Movement speed buff 30/35/40/50% for 3.5/4/4.5/5s.

Toxic Lash

A weapon buff: your hits carry bonus guaranteed-proc Toxin damage on top of whatever you’re already dealing, and it doubles on melee. The part that actually matters is the second half, striking a Spore-infected enemy pops its spores instantly instead of waiting for the natural spread. Run melee with Toxic Lash up and you can pop spores across a room faster than Spores would ever manage on its own.

Key numbers: 50 energy. Duration 20/25/35/45s. Bonus Toxin damage 20/24/26/30% of the hit, doubled to 40/48/52/60% on melee, guaranteed Toxin proc.

Miasma

Her ultimate, and the payoff for the whole build. On its own it’s a decent Viral nuke in a wide radius. The number that actually matters is the 4x damage multiplier against anyone already carrying Spores, which is why the standard rotation is always spread first, detonate second. Cast Miasma into a room you’ve already infected and it’s a wipe. Cast it cold and it’s just a mediocre AoE.

Key numbers: 75 energy. 110/125/135/150 Viral damage per second for 6s in a 10/12/16/20m radius, 100% Viral status chance. Deals 4x damage to enemies currently afflicted by Spores.

The build (reviewed September 2026)

The consensus Steel Path build hasn’t moved much this year: stack Strength so Spores ramps faster and Toxic Lash hits harder, add enough Range to cover a room, and paper over her low health pool with shields and lifesteal instead of raw armor. Umbral Intensify and Transient Fortitude cover Strength, Overextended or Stretch covers Range, and most builds subsume Gloom onto her fourth ability slot through Helminth for the lifesteal and enemy slow. Arcane Energize keeps energy flowing so Miasma doesn’t stall out mid-mission.

ModWhat it’s doing
Umbral IntensifyPower Strength, stacks with Umbral set bonuses if you’re running other Umbral mods
Transient FortitudePower Strength at the cost of Duration, which Saryn barely needs
Overextended or StretchRange to cover more of the room with Spores and Miasma, though Overextended trades away Strength you’re already stacking elsewhere
Brief RespiteShield-gating so a burst of Steel Path damage doesn’t just delete you
Helminth: GloomSubsumed ability for lifesteal and an enemy slow, the main survivability layer on top of shield-gating
Arcane EnergizeFlat energy return from orb pickups, keeps Miasma spam sustainable

Recommended Archon shards are Tauforged Emerald for Corrosive and Toxin damage, with an optional Tauforged Amber for cast speed if you’re chaining abilities fast. There’s also a newer health-tank variant that’s gained real traction this year, leaning on armor and Vitality mods instead of shields, made more viable by the broader defensive-stat changes DE has been rolling out. Brozime’s build refresh below walks through that version.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Still one of the best AoE clear frames in Steel Path, even after a patch that never touched her directly
  • Cheap to build: her parts come from a single boss with no rare-drop RNG chain
  • Corrosive got stronger under the Jade Shadows armor rework, and Spores is a Corrosive proc
  • Molt gives a free invulnerability window and a cleanse whenever you need one

Cons

  • Low health and shields for Steel Path without Gloom or shield-gating layered in
  • Saryn Prime is vaulted right now, no relic farm gets you there
  • Spores needs time to ramp before it’s doing real damage, she’s not an instant nuke
  • Miasma without Spores up first is just a mediocre ability, easy to waste

Saryn’s the frame to reach for when a room needs to die fast and you don’t want to think too hard about how. If you’re running Steel Path survival or defense and don’t own her yet, farm Kela De Thaym this week, base Saryn already clears fine on her own. Prime is a nice-to-have right now rather than a must-buy, unless you’re already sitting on the relics or the Platinum to go get her.
