Build it if you own one or can trade for it: 84% base Slash and a passive that doubles magazine size and fire rate make it one of the hardest-hitting crit secondaries in the game. Weakness: it’s vaulted, so getting a copy means trading or waiting on Prime Resurgence, not a relic farm.
3 kills within 2 seconds of each other summons a second Pyrana Prime for 6 seconds, doubling magazine size and boosting fire rate by 1.4x. The timer doesn’t refresh on further kills while both guns are out.
Pyrana Prime is a Mastery Rank 13 automatic secondary firing a 4-pellet burst per trigger pull, and in 2026 it still ranks as one of the cleanest crit-Slash sidearms on flesh and unarmored targets with 24% crit chance, a 2.2x multiplier, and 84% Slash damage.
How to get the Pyrana Prime
- Check if Pyrana Prime is in the current Prime Resurgence rotation with Varzia (Maroo’s Bazaar, or the Relic Segment on your Orbiter), Varzia’s offered Primes rotate roughly every 28 days, so don’t assume it’s available without checking.
- If it’s in rotation, buy the Pyrana Prime relics (or the completed parts outright) with Aya from Varzia.
- If it’s not in rotation, the only route is the Trading Post/Warframe Market: buy the finished Receiver, Barrel, and Blueprint (or a maxed weapon) from another player.
- If you land relics from either route, run them in Void Fissure missions and pick Pyrana Prime parts at Reward selection like any other Prime relic.
- Build the Blueprint plus Receiver and Barrel at the Foundry (standard credit + resource cost, real-time build timer), then rush or wait it out.
- No Incarnon adapter exists for this weapon, so there is no Circuit step to worry about.
Vaulted Prime parts you already own in inventory can still be built and traded even while the set is out of rotation, so check your relic inventory before assuming you need to buy anything.

Builds
Crit build, not status: 24% crit chance, a 2.2x multiplier, and only 3.6% status per pellet mean you stack crit chance and crit damage past the 100% breakpoint and let the 84% Slash split do the work. Add Viral (Cold plus Toxin) or Viral plus Heat to cover armored and shielded targets.

Pistol
| Mod | Why it’s here |
|---|---|
| Hornet Strike | Flat base damage scaling is mandatory on every secondary before anything else multiplies off it. |
| Primed Pistol Gambit | Pushes the 24% base crit chance toward and past the 100% breakpoint so the 2.2x multiplier fires consistently. |
| Primed Target Cracker | Once crit chance is capped, this raises how hard each guaranteed crit actually hits. |
| Lethal Torrent | Dual fire rate and multishot both scale a 4-pellet burst weapon well, stacking on top of the passive’s 1.4x fire rate window. |
| Galvanized Diffusion | More pellets per trigger pull means more independent 3.6% status rolls per shot, and the on-kill stacking scales with this weapon’s fast kill rate. |
| Frostbite | Cold half of a Viral combo, plus its own status chance roll helps offset the low base status. |
| Pathogen Rounds | Toxin half of the Viral combo, which boosts damage to health on armored and shielded Steel Path targets. |
| Scorch | Adds a separate Heat proc for armor strip and panic on top of Viral, matching the current Viral plus Heat hybrid meta for this weapon. |
Secondary Merciless (up to 12 stacks of weapon damage per kill) is the top pick since the kill-chain passive keeps stacks up easily; Secondary Deadhead is the cheaper alternative for consistent headshots.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- 84% Slash damage weighting shreds unarmored and lightly armored enemies
- 24% crit chance and 2.2x multiplier make it a genuine crit weapon, not a status filler
- Kill-chain passive doubles magazine and boosts fire rate mid-fight for free
- 4-pellet burst gives more status rolls per trigger pull than the flat number implies
- Fast reload (1.6s) and solid 12-round magazine keep uptime high
Cons
- Vaulted: no direct relic farm route right now, only trading or waiting on Prime Resurgence rotation
- 3.6% per-pellet status chance is too low to carry a dedicated status build on its own
- Low 0.65 riven disposition means rivens roll weak and aren’t worth chasing
- Passive requires an active kill chain to trigger, so it underperforms against tanky single targets
This is for players who already have a copy or will trade for one and want an aggressive, fast-kill crit-Slash secondary over a single-target sniper pick.
