Nikana Prime

Build and guide

Build it if you own it or catch a Prime Resurgence window: 90%+ Slash weighting makes it a near-free Condition Overload build. The 0.6 riven disposition and missing Incarnon keep it below modern Incarnon melees like Praedos in Steel Path.

Unique trait: Blind Justice Reverse-Grip

Nikana Prime runs the Blind Justice stance, a one-handed reverse grip and the only Nikana stance with a full unique animation set (idle, block, finishers, wall attacks). Its slide attack forces a Lifted proc on hit, useful for finishers, but this comes from the stance mod, not an innate weapon passive.

Nikana Prime is the Primed version of the original Nikana katana (2015, Mastery Rank 12), and its 178.2 Slash-heavy stat line still makes it one of the easiest weapons to build into Condition Overload in 2026.

How to get the Nikana Prime

  1. Hit Mastery Rank 12 (required to build and equip it).
  2. Nikana Prime is currently Vaulted. Check Varzia at Maroo’s Bazaar for the current Prime Resurgence rotation; if it is featured, buy its relics or the completed set with Regal Aya.
  3. If it is not in rotation, buy the Blade, Hilt, and Handle relics (plus the main Blueprint) from other players via trade chat or Warframe Market, since the relics are pulled from mission drop tables while vaulted.
  4. Run the relics in Void Fissure missions and crack them at Reactant cap; Radiant refinement gives the best odds if you are farming instead of buying outright.
  5. Build the Blade, Hilt, Handle, and main Blueprint in the Foundry, then craft the finished Nikana Prime once every part is done.
  6. Slot an Orokin Catalyst before modding seriously; the crit/status hybrid build below needs the extra capacity.

As an older vaulted Prime, full relic sets and even fully-built copies are usually cheap on the player trade market, often faster than waiting on a Resurgence rotation.

Nikana Prime’s 0.6 riven disposition is low (1 pip), so rivens roll weak and are not worth chasing unless nearly free.

Builds

Mod it as a crit/status hybrid: 28% crit (2.4x multiplier) and 28% status on a Slash-heavy base let Blood Rush and Weeping Wounds scale off the same combo counter, with every bleed proc feeding Condition Overload. Run Viral (Cold plus Toxin) so status procs strip health-type resistance while stacking Condition Overload’s multiplier.

ModWhy it’s here
Primed Pressure PointFlat damage baseline that scales up every hit before crit and status multipliers apply.
Blood RushConverts your combo counter into extra crit chance, turning the 28% base crit into real crit tiers at high combo.
Weeping WoundsDoes the same combo-to-stat conversion for status chance, pushing the 28% base high enough to proc Condition Overload reliably.
Organ ShatterAdds flat crit damage on top of the 2.4x base multiplier once Blood Rush pushes you into orange and red crits.
Condition OverloadMultiplies damage per status effect on the target, and this weapon’s Slash-heavy, high-status profile keeps procs stacking.
North WindSupplies the Cold half of a Viral combo to strip health-type resistance on tough Steel Path targets.
Primed Fever StrikeSupplies the Toxin half of Viral, and Toxin procs also bypass shields for extra chip damage.
Berserker FuryAttack speed on crit hits builds combo faster, which feeds straight back into Blood Rush and Weeping Wounds scaling.

Melee Animosity, bought with standing from Cavia’s Bird 3 vendor, is the practical best pick; Melee Crescendo or Melee Duplicate hit higher but need Netracell or Deep Archimedea RNG to farm.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Near-pure Slash damage line means almost every mod point buys real damage, no wasted Impact or Puncture investment
  • 28%/28% crit-status split works for either scaling path, very forgiving to mod
  • Blind Justice stance gives fast, mobile combos plus a forced Lifted proc for crowd control
  • Cheap on the trade market since it is an old vaulted Prime, good forma-fodder or budget main
  • Solid mastery fodder and an easy weapon to learn Condition Overload building on

Cons

  • 0.6 riven disposition, one of the lowest in the game, so rivens underperform badly
  • No Incarnon Genesis adapter, so it falls behind 2026’s top Incarnon melees in extreme Steel Path
  • Vaulted: you must catch a Prime Resurgence window or buy from other players, relics do not drop from missions right now
  • Single-target sword moveset with no innate AOE, unlike polearms, glaives, or heavy blades

Good for owners, Condition Overload learners, and katana fans; not worth farming or riven-chasing over a modern Incarnon melee for pure Steel Path ceiling.
