Build it if you already have the blueprint or can trade for one cheap: the built-in Electric/Heat kit and free lifesteal pulse make it a solid Steel Path status stick at MR11. Its real weakness is the 15% base crit chance, which forces a status or hybrid build instead of a crit carry.
Holding fire swaps to twin 9m electric beams that lock onto targets and chain to up to 5 enemies, each hop dealing 50% of the previous hit’s damage. Draining the battery fully fires three 10m true damage pulses that stagger nearby enemies and heal you for 10x each pulse’s damage.
Basmu is a Sentient-tech primary rifle from 2020’s Operation: Scarlet Spear that fires explosive Electric/Heat bolts and swaps to a chaining, self-healing beam mode on hold-fire, and it still matters in 2026 because it’s MR11-accessible and scales into Steel Path with Galvanized status mods.
How to get the Basmu
- Check for the recurring Nights of Naberus event (Kuva Fortress, Halloween-season timing): Daughter sells the Basmu blueprint for 125 Mother Tokens while it runs.
- If Operation: Orphix Venom or Operation: Scarlet Spear ever return, the blueprint is also purchasable there (Father for 1,500 Phasic Cells, or originally Little Duck for 15,000 Scarlet Credits).
- No event active? The blueprint is player-tradeable, so buying one via trade chat or Warframe Market is usually faster than waiting.
- Craft it in the Foundry: 25,000 Credits, 1,500 Titanium, 800 Carbides, 450 Isos, and 1 Nullstone.
- Farm any missing resources first: Isos and Carbides come from Cambion Drift (Deimos) bounties and mining, Nullstone from Deimos mining/bounty rewards.
- No Circuit or Incarnon farming is needed for this weapon since it has no Incarnon Genesis adapter.
Blueprint is tradeable between players, so buying one off the market is often the fastest route instead of waiting on the next Naberus rotation.

Riven disposition sits at 1.2, low-middle end, so a riven adds decent damage but isn’t required; only grab one if it’s cheap, since mods alone already make this Steel Path viable.
Builds
With 15% crit (2.0x multiplier) and 29% status, Basmu plays as a status/hybrid: stack Galvanized Chamber and Galvanized Aptitude for flat damage, then add Cold and Toxin for Viral on top of the innate Electric/Heat kit. Hunter Munitions and Vital Sense keep the held-fire beam’s 4.8x crit multiplier relevant for burst kills against armored Steel Path targets.

SET: PRIMARY
| Mod | Why it’s here |
|---|---|
| Serration | Flat base damage multiplier every rifle build needs before anything else scales. |
| Galvanized Chamber | Converts Basmu’s healthy 29% status output into extra damage and crit chance per stack. |
| Galvanized Aptitude | Rewards Basmu’s built-in dual Electric/Heat elements with bonus damage per status type already on the target. |
| Vital Sense | Pushes crit damage higher to make the alt-fire beam’s massive 4.8x hold-crit multiplier actually hit hard. |
| Critical Delay | Basmu’s 15% base crit is too low to lean on alone, so this trades fire rate for a real crit chance bump. |
| Primed Cryo Rounds | Adds Cold to combine with Toxin into Viral, needed since Basmu’s innate elements alone don’t strip tough Steel Path armor. |
| Malignant Force | Supplies the Toxin half of the Cold plus Toxin Viral combo layered over Basmu’s innate Electric/Heat. |
| Hunter Munitions | Converts crit hits into bonus Slash procs, covering the Slash damage type Basmu has none of natively. |
Primary Merciless is the top arcane pick since Basmu’s chaining beam and explosive bolts rack up multi-kills fast enough to keep its stacks refreshed; Primary Charged Chamber is a cheaper, easier-to-farm alternative that stretches the battery-limited beam uptime.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- Innate dual Electric and Heat damage covers stagger CC and a status debuff in one gun
- Alt-fire chain beam hits up to 5 targets per beam, strong against grouped enemies
- Battery-dump pulse gives free stagger and lifesteal with zero mod investment
- Solid 29% base status makes it a natural Galvanized-mod carrier
- MR11 makes it available relatively early for what it brings to Steel Path
Cons
- Blueprint is event-gated with no permanent vendor, only tradeable or seasonal
- 15% base crit chance needs real investment to be worth building around
- No innate Slash damage, so a mod slot has to cover that gap
- Held-fire beam mode drains its battery fast, adding resource management mid-fight
Basmu suits players who already own the blueprint or can trade for it cheap and want built-in sustain and crowd stagger, not those who’d rather farm the event while already running a favorite status primary like Amprex or Ignis Wraith.
