Twin Grakatas

Build and guide

Build it if you like the akimbo playstyle and can manage ammo, since the innate double-pellet multishot doubles damage and status for free with no mods needed. Its ammo economy is the worst of any secondary, since the double pellet burns the 120-round mag and 1200 reserve twice as fast.

Unique trait: Innate Twin-Fire Multishot

Every trigger pull fires two rounds from a single ammo pool, an innate 2x multishot built into the base stats, not added by mods. That doubles damage and status procs for free, but empties the mag faster than nearly any other secondary.

Twin Grakatas is the akimbo secondary version of the Grakata assault rifle, unlocked at Mastery Rank 9, and it still matters in 2026 as one of the last dakka-style secondaries with a genuine crit/status hybrid profile that never got an Incarnon.

How to get the Twin Grakatas

  1. Reach Mastery Rank 9 (the weapon can be built earlier, but not equipped until MR9).
  2. Buy the Twin Grakatas blueprint from the in-game Market for 20,000 Credits.
  3. Craft two separate, fully-built Grakata rifles from their own Market blueprint first; the Twin Grakatas recipe consumes two completed Grakatas as ingredients, not just their blueprints.
  4. Load the Twin Grakatas recipe in the Foundry with 30,000 Credits, the 2x completed Grakata, and 1x Forma.
  5. Wait the 12-hour build timer, or spend Platinum to rush it if you want it immediately.
  6. No relics, Circuit runs, or boss farming are involved; it is a straight Market-and-Foundry craft, so check the in-game Market/Foundry screen directly if any listed cost looks off after a balance pass.

The blueprint is not tradeable and not sold by Baro Ki’Teer, so there is no trade-chat shortcut; every copy has to be bought and built the same way, Forma and all.

Riven disposition is a middling 1.20, worth chasing only if you already like the double-multishot playstyle, since it’s what pushes the 25% crit chance and 16.5% status from serviceable into real Steel Path relevance.

Builds

Hybrid, status-leaning crit build for Twin Grakatas that leans into their extreme fire rate. Frostbite and Pathogen Rounds combine into Viral (Cold plus Toxin) to strip armor and pop shields, while Pistol Gambit and Galvanized Crosshairs keep the weapon’s decent crit chance relevant.

ModWhy it’s here
Hornet StrikeCore base damage mod that scales every shot from both akimbo pistols, the backbone of any Twin Grakatas build.
Barrel DiffusionMultishot doubles pellets per trigger pull, multiplying both damage and status proc rolls on an already fast firing weapon.
Pistol GambitRaises critical chance so the moderate crit side of this hybrid weapon has a reliable floor.
Galvanized ShotPistol status mod: raises status chance and stacks damage per status type, ideal for the extreme fire rate.
Hollow PointFlat status chance boost that pushes this naturally status-leaning hybrid weapon toward more reliable elemental procs.
FrostbiteSupplies the Cold half of the Viral combo, since Twin Grakatas has no innate cold element on its own.
Pathogen RoundsSupplies the Toxin half, completing Viral for bonus damage against armored and shielded enemies.
Galvanized CrosshairsConverts multikills into extra crit chance and crit damage, rounding out the hybrid crit side without losing the status focus.

Secondary Merciless is best-in-slot since the high fire rate builds and holds all 12 stacks almost instantly, with Secondary Deadhead as a cheaper alternative needing just 3 headshot-kill stacks from the same Steel Path Acolyte pool.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Innate double-pellet multishot doubles damage and status output for free
  • Largest magazine size of any secondary (tied with Dual Cestra) and huge ammo reserves partly offset its own drain
  • Near-zero recoil and an innate Naramon polarity slot
  • Solid 2.7x crit multiplier pays off once crit chance is modded up
  • Straightforward acquisition with no relic or boss farming involved

Cons

  • Lowest per-bullet base damage of any secondary; needs heavy modding to matter
  • Burns through its magazine and reserves faster than almost anything else in the game
  • No Incarnon Genesis adapter, so its ceiling is permanently capped below Duviri-boosted secondaries
  • Needs a well-rolled riven to be genuinely strong at Steel Path level rather than just a fun novelty

This is for players who have already cleared the star chart and want a chaotic, high-fire-rate secondary for fun or alongside a real damage dealer, not a good first Mastery Rank 9 pickup for pushing efficiently into Steel Path.
