Build it if you already own the parts or catch it on a Varzia rotation: 35% crit chance, a 2.5x multiplier, and 200 base damage weighted 70% Slash make a strong red-crit scythe that clears Steel Path with a stock Blood Rush build. The weakness is access: it’s vaulted with no Incarnon path, so it can’t scale past newer Circuit melees.
Reaper Prime is the primed version of the original Reaper scythe, added in Update 8 (2013), and it still matters in 2026 because Varzia’s Prime Resurgence periodically returns it to the market as a clean crit/slash stat stick built around Blood Rush and Condition Overload.
How to get the Reaper Prime
- Check Maroo’s Bazaar (Varzia) or the in-game Market’s Prime Resurgence tab to see if Reaper Prime is in the current vault rotation; it cycles roughly every 28 days between two vault sets.
- If it is featured, buy the Reaper Prime relic pack or the blueprint/parts bundle with Aya (farmed in Void Cascade/Flood missions) or Regal Aya (bought with platinum-equivalent currency).
- If it is not currently featured, buy the Blade, Handle, and Blueprint individually from other players through Trade chat or a third-party trading site, since its relics do not drop from missions while vaulted.
- Build each component in the Foundry on its normal timer (rushable with platinum), then build the assembled weapon once all three parts are ready.
- Add Forma and polarize to taste for your chosen build; there is no Incarnon adapter step for this weapon.
Parts stay tradeable between players even while vaulted, so buying off the market is usually faster than waiting for a Prime Resurgence rotation; pick up a second, catalyst-boosted copy separately if you want a dedicated riven-testing build alongside your main.

Riven disposition is 0.8, a mid-scale value, so a riven you already own or find cheap is worth slotting, but the base 35% crit / 2.5x multiplier / 70% Slash spread already carries the weapon so it’s not worth farming Rivens for one.
Builds
The 35% crit chance and 2.5x multiplier carry a pure Blood Rush red-crit build, and the 25% base status chance is high enough to add Weeping Wounds for a crit/status hybrid off the same combo counter. With 140 of the 200 base damage already Slash, add Cold and Toxin for Viral to roughly double health damage on top of the innate bleed DoT, then stack Condition Overload for more off the built-up statuses.

Melee
| Mod | Why it’s here |
|---|---|
| Primed Pressure Point | Flat base damage multiplier every serious melee build needs before anything else scales. |
| Blood Rush | Converts the rising combo counter into extra crit chance, pushing the already-high 35% base into consistent orange and red crits. |
| Weeping Wounds | Same combo-to-stat conversion but for status, taking the 25% base status chance toward guaranteed Slash procs at higher combo tiers. |
| Organ Shatter | Flat crit damage that stacks directly with the 2.5x base multiplier for bigger red crit numbers. |
| Berserker Fury | Attack speed on crit keeps the combo counter climbing faster, compounding both Blood Rush and Weeping Wounds. |
| North Wind | Cold half of a Cold plus Toxin Viral combo that doubles health damage on top of the innate Slash bleed. |
| Virulent Scourge | Toxin half completing the Viral combo, with its own status chance adding to the pile. |
| Condition Overload | Multiplies damage per status effect already stacked on the target, scaling hard once Viral and Slash procs are both up. |
Melee Duplicate is the best pick since it doubles damage on every yellow crit, and with Blood Rush pushing crit chance past 100% at high combo most hits qualify; Melee Crescendo is the cheaper alternative, keeping the combo counter near max off finisher kills to keep Blood Rush and Weeping Wounds active between swings.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- Highest crit chance among scythes at 35%, tied for the top crit multiplier at 2.5x
- 200 base damage weighted 70% Slash shreds armor through bleed procs
- Fast 1.08 attack speed keeps the combo counter climbing quickly
- Wide slam radius for crowd clears between melee swings
- Naramon-polarity stance slot lines up with Reaping Spiral for free
Cons
- Vaulted: getting it means trading plat for parts or waiting on a Prime Resurgence rotation
- No Incarnon Genesis adapter, so it cannot scale into Circuit-tier evolutions
- 0.8 riven disposition is middling, not a huge payoff for riven investment
- Outclassed at the very top of Steel Path pushing by newer Incarnon melees like Praedos
Reaper Prime suits a player who wants a cheap-to-mod, no-gimmick slash-crit scythe that clears Steel Path without chasing Incarnon evolutions, not someone hunting the current meta topper.
