Cyanex

Build and guide

Build it for the homing Gas clouds that curve onto targets within 15 degrees and pop Gas on impact without needing real aim. Its weakness is an 11-round magazine paired with a 1.4x crit multiplier, the second-lowest of any secondary in the game, so it only works as a status weapon.

Unique trait: Homing Split-Fire

Primary fire auto-homes onto targets within 15 degrees, ricochets once, and detonates into a Gas cloud on impact. Alt-fire dumps the mag as a tight Slash and Puncture burst instead, with no homing, no ricochet, and no Gas.

Cyanex is a Corpus-Sentient clan-research autopistol whose primary fire auto-homes onto targets and pops Gas clouds, and it still matters in 2026 because status-stacking secondaries are back in favor and its innate Gas damage plus switchable alt-fire fit that meta cleanly.

How to get the Cyanex

  1. Have your clan (or a clan you’re in) research Cyanex in the dojo Energy Lab; larger clan tiers need more contributed resources, and it requires 5 Fieldron, so plan around Fieldron Sample crafting timers.
  2. Buy the Cyanex blueprint from the in-game Market for 15,000 Credits once your clan’s research is finished.
  3. Build it: 20,000 Credits, 5 Fieldron, 8,750 Nano Spores, 250 Hexenon, 1 Forma, with a 12 hour build timer (or rush it instantly with Platinum).
  4. Check the Circuit reward list at Cavalero in Duviri before assuming Cyanex has an Incarnon Genesis Adapter; it was not confirmed in current rotation data at time of writing.

Cyanex is untradeable start to finish. If you want a second copy for an alternate build, you buy the blueprint again and build it again; there’s no trading shortcut.

Riven disposition is 1.00x (3 dots), middle of the pack, so a riven helps but won’t transform the weapon; with crit already weak at 8% chance and a 1.4x multiplier, roll for status chance, multishot, or reload speed instead.

Builds

Cyanex leans fully into its 32% base status with a multishot-and-status hybrid build, stacking Galvanized Diffusion and Galvanized Savvy alongside Barrel Diffusion, Lethal Torrent, and Creeping Bullseye to keep its homing projectiles procing constantly. Frostbite and Pathogen Rounds combine into Viral, doubling damage to enemy health once shields and armor are worn down.

ModWhy it’s here
Hornet StrikeRaises Cyanex’s base damage first, since its 8% crit chance is too low to build around.
Barrel DiffusionAdds multishot so each burst fires more homing projectiles, multiplying status proc chances.
Lethal TorrentStacks more multishot plus fire rate, pushing even more status rolls per second.
Galvanized DiffusionPairs multishot with a large status chance boost that grows further on multishot kills.
Galvanized ShotPistol status mod: raises status chance and adds stacking damage per status type, feeding Cyanex 32% base status.
FrostbiteProvides the Cold half of the Viral combo while adding bonus status chance.
Pathogen RoundsProvides the Toxin half of the Viral combo while adding bonus status chance.
Pistol PestilenceAdds Toxin damage and status chance, raising proc volume and reinforcing the Viral combo.

Secondary Merciless is the standard pick, stacking pistol damage per kill regardless of crit or status type; Secondary Deadhead is the budget alternative at roughly 10 platinum on Warframe Market, a cheaper headshot-triggered version of the same idea.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Homing projectiles remove most of the aiming skill floor
  • Innate Gas damage gives free area status without extra elemental mods
  • Alt-fire is a genuine second firing mode (precision Slash and Puncture burst), not a gimmick
  • 32% base status chance is strong for a secondary and supports a real status build
  • 210 max ammo pool means the small magazine isn’t a total ammo-economy problem

Cons

  • 11-round magazine against a 4.67 attacks per second fire rate means constant reloading without reload mods
  • 1.4x crit multiplier is the second-lowest of any secondary in the game, crit builds are dead on arrival
  • Untradeable and locked behind clan dojo research, not something you can just buy off Warframe Market
  • No Incarnon adapter confirmed, so it misses the damage ceiling other secondaries get from that system

Cyanex is for players who want a low-effort-aim status secondary that still rewards real modding, not crit chasers, and it earns a slot in status-stacking Steel Path load-outs paired with a crit-focused primary or melee.
