Build it. A single semi-auto shot dealing 808 damage with infinite punch through covers single targets, and the alt fire’s mite swarm plus mercy-kill teleport execution covers crowd control and burst damage neither mode manages alone.
Alt fire launches an infested mite that can latch onto up to 6 enemies, dealing Impact and Magnetic damage and status over time. Firing the alt fire at an enemy within 35 meters who is open to a Parazon Mercy finisher triggers a teleporting execution that buffs damage and multishot by 100% for 20 seconds.
Coda Bassocyst is the Technocyte Coda upgrade of the Infested shotgun Bassocyst, sold by Eleanor at The Hex after a Coda Lich is defeated.
It fires a wide Blast-damage projectile with infinite body punch through and near 50 meter falloff range, making it function like a slow, hard-hitting shotgun sniper.
It stays relevant in 2026 because the alt fire’s mite swarm and mercy-kill execution give it crowd control and burst options most single-target shotguns do not have.
How to get the Coda Bassocyst
- Finish The Hex quest.
- With no active Lich, Sister or Coda, run a Hollvania Exterminate, Hell-Scrub or Legacyte Harvest and pick up the Mixtape. Hack it (a Potency mod on success) and Arthur announces the new Technocyte Coda.
- Slot up to three Antivirus mods on the Parazon and mercy-kill Coda Duets on the band’s nodes until the right mod confirms; each hit raises the Disinfection meter, and missions on their nodes add 5 percent.
- At 100 percent, follow the Coda to Earth Proxima and finish it in a Railjack showdown for 10 to 15 Live Heartcells.
- Buy the Coda Bassocyst from Eleanor in the Hollvania Central Mall for 10 Live Heartcells. Her shop shows two batches of Coda weapons that rotate every four days, each with a random bonus element and percentage (25 to 60).
Coda members ignore the progenitor system, so the element is whatever the shop rolls; Valence Fusion merges two copies up to 60 percent and lets you keep the element you want. Rank 40 with five Forma.

0.6 riven disposition is on the low side, so a riven here is a nice-to-have rather than a priority. The weapon’s 808 base damage and infinite punch through already carry it fine in Steel Path without one.
Builds
Run a hybrid crit and status build since 18% crit chance with a 2.2x multiplier and 40% status chance both scale reasonably with mods. Lean on multishot and crit chance mods for the primary fire’s single big hits, and let the alt fire’s mite swarm and mercy execution handle grouped enemies separately.

SET: PRIMARY

Shotgun
| Mod | Why it’s here |
|---|---|
| Primed Point Blank | Flat shotgun damage bonus that scales the already high 808 base damage per shot. |
| Hell’s Chamber | Multishot adds a second projectile per trigger pull on the primary fire. |
| Blunderbuss | Raises crit chance off the 18% base toward a more reliable crit rate. |
| Primed Ravage | Crit damage bonus that pays off on the 2.2x base multiplier. |
| Galvanized Savvy | Adds status chance, and every kill adds direct damage per status type on the target; the shotgun version of Galvanized Shot. |
| Shell Shock | Adds Electricity damage and status chance, a cheap way to round out an elemental combo alongside a Magnetic bonus element. |
| Vigilante Armaments | Extra multishot on its own, plus bonus crit chance if paired with a second Vigilante set piece. |
| Tactical Pump | Faster reload speed, useful since the 24-round magazine empties quickly on a semi-auto trigger. |
Primary Merciless is the top pick, stacking kill-based damage across both fire modes. Primary Crux, from The Hex, is the cheaper alternative while you farm Acolytes for Merciless.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- 808 base damage per shot with infinite body punch through
- Alt fire mite swarm hits up to 6 enemies with damage over time
- Mercy-kill teleport execution buffs damage and multishot by 100% for 20 seconds
- Near 50 meter falloff range makes it usable at long distance
- 40% base status chance is high for a primarily crit-leaning shotgun
Cons
- 0.6 riven disposition, below average for chasing a riven
- Alt fire does not benefit from multishot at all
- Semi-auto trigger and 24-round magazine mean frequent reloads in sustained fights
- Mercy-kill execution synergy only triggers within 35 meters of a finisher-vulnerable target
Best for players who want a hard-hitting semi-auto shotgun with a genuine crowd control option built into the alt fire, rather than a pure single-target or pure AoE weapon.
