Skip the plain Boar. It’s flatly D-tier, and nobody runs it unranked. Install the Incarnon Genesis and it jumps to a real B-tier status-crit shotgun. The only question left is whether the adapter’s worth a Circuit week.
Land 50 weakpoint or headshot hits to fill the Transmutation gauge, then hit Alt-Fire. The Boar turns into a continuous beam: 3 auto-tracking bolts, each chaining to 2 more targets, pure Heat damage, inside a tight ~20m range.
The Boar hasn’t sat on the Market since Update 10.3, back in 2013. It’s pure farm bait now. On its own, it’s not worth the mod capacity.
The Incarnon Genesis changes that math. Once it’s installed, the beam form actually competes with the game’s better status shotguns. The same adapter covers both Boar and Boar Prime too, so you only unlock it once.
Boar Prime is the better host if you can get one. 320 total damage per shot against base Boar’s 176, faster fire rate, same magazine, before mods.
How to get the Boar
Base Boar isn’t on the Market. It never went back after Update 10.3. Circuit runs or Grineer drops are the only ways in now.
- Farm the blueprint.
Drops from Drekar Troopers (Grineer, about 0.5% chance) or Tier 6 of the Normal Circuit in Duviri (about 1% chance). Untradeable. - Build it.
Cost: 15,000 Credits, 6 Morphics, 900 Alloy Plate, 750 Salvage, 900 Plastids. 12-hour timer, or rush with Platinum.
Boar Prime is vaulted. Its relics don’t drop from missions anymore, so trading for the finished weapon or its four relics (Blueprint, Barrel, Receiver, Stock) is the only route in right now. Check Varzia occasionally; unvaultings do happen.
The Incarnon Genesis adapter works on both versions. One unlock covers either weapon.
- Clear the prerequisites.
The Duviri Paradox, Angels of the Zariman, and Steel Path unlocked. - Wait for Boar’s week.
The Steel Path Circuit rotates 5 adapters at a time. Boar isn’t in the pool every week. - Run the Circuit and claim the adapter.
Free, tied to that week’s rotation. - Install it through Cavalero.
Cost: 20 Pathos Clamps, 60 Rune Marrow, 60 Tasoma Extract. - Or buy it outright.
Cavalero sells missed adapters for Platinum. The wiki lists 120p, at least one other guide says 150p, so check the in-game price before you buy.

Boar’s listed riven disposition is 1.45x, though only one source has that exact number. Treat it as a rough estimate. Boar Prime’s is confirmed at 1.34x, still high enough that a good roll makes a real difference.
Builds
This is the crit-leaning Incarnon build, the one community data favors over a pure-status setup. Heavy multishot and critical damage feed the beam’s boosted crit stats. Heat and Toxin cover the status side.

| Mod | Effect |
|---|---|
| Galvanized Hell | +110% multishot. On kill: +30% multishot for 20s, stacks up to 4x. |
| Primed Point Blank | +165% damage, flat and always on. |
| Primed Ravage | +110% critical damage. |
| Galvanized Savvy | +80% status chance. On kill: +40% direct damage per status type on the target for 20s, stacks up to 2x. |
| Critical Deceleration | +200% critical chance, -20% fire rate. |
| Blaze | +60% damage, +60% Heat damage. |
| Toxic Barrage | +60% Toxin damage, +60% status chance. |
| Shotgun Barrage | +90% fire rate. Offsets the fire rate loss from Critical Deceleration. |
Primary Debilitate is the popular arcane pick here. Once a target stacks 10 or more of a combined status effect (Gas or Viral, off this build’s Heat and Toxin mix), it forces one extra proc of a base element from that combo as its own hit. It’s not the only option, but it shows up on more than one current Boar Prime Incarnon build.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- Incarnon beam form deals pure Heat with boosted crit stats and chains to 2 extra targets per beam. Good for clearing groups once it’s up.
- Riven disposition runs 1.34x to 1.45x, high enough that a decent roll actually matters here.
- 8-pellet multishot and solid status chance stack cleanly with the Galvanized mods.
- Boar Prime hits for 320 total damage per shot with a faster fire rate and the same magazine as base Boar.
- The base weapon costs Credits and resources only. No Platinum needed if you’re willing to farm the blueprint.
Cons
- The un-upgraded base Boar is D-tier. Not worth using before the Incarnon adapter goes in.
- Ammo economy is poor and recoil is heavy. Both get worse once you add fire rate mods.
- Beam mode only reaches about 20m, with damage dropping on each chain jump, so it struggles against tanky or far-off Steel Path targets.
- Boar Prime is vaulted. You’re trading for relics or the finished weapon instead of farming it in missions.
- The adapter sits in a rotating multi-week Circuit pool. Miss its week and you’re waiting out the cycle or paying Platinum.
This is a weapon for players already grinding Steel Path Circuit for other adapters. If Boar shows up in your rotation, grabbing it costs nothing extra and gives you a real status-crit shotgun to fall back on.
If you don’t already own a Boar or Boar Prime, and you’re not chasing Circuit rewards anyway, there’s no strong reason to farm one from scratch. Treat it as a bonus pickup, not a build goal.
