Strun

Buy it. The base gun costs 25,000 Credits, needs MR1, and on its own is nothing special. Slot in the free Incarnon Genesis adapter, though, and it becomes one of the better AoE clear picks in Steel Path. Not planning to farm that adapter? Skip the mod investment. Without it, Strun isn’t worth building around.

Unique trait: Incarnon Genesis

Weakpoint hits fill a Transmutation gauge under your reticle. Land 40 of them and Alt-Fire swaps the shotgun into Incarnon Form: explosive projectiles, a 4m blast radius, and its own separate 40-round magazine. You lose multishot and fire rate for it, but critical chance, critical multiplier, and status all jump hard.

Strun is a MR1 pump shotgun you buy outright from the Market for 25,000 Credits. No blueprint. No build timer.

On its own, it’s a below-average shotgun. Nothing to see there. The reason this page exists is the Incarnon Genesis adapter, which turns it into a pocket rocket launcher for anyone willing to farm the unlock.

People online call the Incarnon Form a “pocket-Zarr” for a reason. It’s not subtle. Below: how to get the base weapon and the adapter, the stats, and a build that keeps showing up across community threads for the Incarnon setup.

How to get the Strun

Base Strun requires Mastery Rank 1 and comes fully assembled from the Market; don’t confuse it with the Mk1-Strun, a separate MR0 starter shotgun.

  1. Reach Mastery Rank 1.
  2. Buy it fully assembled from the Market for 25,000 Credits. No parts, no Foundry wait.

The part that actually matters is the Incarnon Genesis adapter, shared across four weapons: Strun, Strun Wraith, Strun Prime, and Mk1-Strun.

  1. Free route: earn it from The Circuit’s Steel Path mode, grouped with the Bo, Latron, Furis, and Furax Incarnon Genesis unlocks in the same week’s reward table. Which week that lands on shifts, so check your own Circuit rotation instead of planning around a fixed date.
  2. Installing the free adapter costs 20 Pathos Clamps, 60 Rune Marrow, and 60 Tasoma Extract.
  3. Paid route: buy it once from Cavalero in the Chrysalith for 120 Platinum. That price includes the install resources.

Want a stronger base weapon to hang the adapter on? Strun Wraith needs MR10, and Strun Prime needs MR14 and comes from Void Relics. It’s currently vaulted, so check Varzia and Prime Resurgence rotations, or just trade for one.

The Incarnon build works the same no matter which Strun you’re running it on.

Riven disposition sits on the high end for base Strun, and that tracks. It’s a weak weapon on paper, and DE tends to push disposition up on stuff that needs the help. A good roll goes further here than on a weapon that’s already strong without one.

Builds

This is a crit and status build aimed at the Incarnon Form, not the base shotgun mode. Critical Deceleration eats your fire rate, so the whole build leans into fewer, harder shots instead of spraying.

ModEffect
Galvanized Hell+110% Multishot. On kill, +30% Multishot for 20s, stacking up to 4x.
Primed Ravage+110% Critical Damage at max rank.
Critical Deceleration+200% Critical Chance, -20% Fire Rate.
Primed Point Blank+165% Damage.
Frigid Blast+60% Cold damage, +60% Status Chance.
Toxic Barrage+60% Toxin damage, +60% Status Chance.
Hunter Munitions30% chance to apply a Slash proc on a Critical Hit.
Vigilante Armaments+60% Multishot. It’s a Vigilante set mod, but running just one piece here means the set bonus doesn’t trigger.

Don’t like the fire rate hit from Critical Deceleration? Swap in Semi-Shotgun Cannonade and drop Primed Point Blank to make room. Sweeping Serration can replace Hunter Munitions too, since the Incarnon explosion already leans Slash-heavy. A good riven or faction mod can take Vigilante Armaments’ slot if you’d rather build around one enemy type.

Arcane: Primary Merciless. On kill, +30% Damage stacking up to 12 times (+360% max) for a few seconds, plus +30% Reload Speed. It’s the one arcane every source agrees on for this build.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • MR1 and 25,000 Credits. One of the cheapest, earliest weapons in the entire game.
  • Incarnon Genesis turns it into an AoE-blast weapon with real crit, status, and damage numbers, not a minor sidegrade.
  • One Genesis adapter covers Strun, Strun Wraith, Strun Prime, and Mk1-Strun. Build it once, use it on whichever you own.
  • Strong, currently relevant Steel Path AoE clear pick.
  • Riven disposition is high enough that a decent roll actually matters.

Cons

  • Incarnon Form’s separate 40-round magazine ignores ammo-efficiency mods entirely. There’s no modding around that limit.
  • You have to manually charge the Transmutation gauge with up to 40 weakpoint hits before every burst of Incarnon use. It doesn’t auto-charge.
  • Outclassed against single, tanky targets and bosses. Felarx is the better pick there. Strun’s strength is crowd AoE, not burst single-target damage.
  • Base shotgun mode is mediocre by 2026 standards. Almost all of its relevance is behind the opt-in Genesis unlock.
  • Its meta tier is genuinely disputed. Where it lands depends on which list you’re reading.

This is a good pick if you’re already grinding Steel Path Circuit and want cheap AoE without committing a full Incarnon-weapon budget to get there. It also works as a reasonable second Incarnon if you’ve got single-target damage covered somewhere else in your loadout.

Skip it if you’re chasing pure numbers and don’t want to deal with manually charging a gauge before every fight. The base shotgun by itself won’t hold up next to anything you’d actually mod seriously.
