Sporothrix

Build and guide

Build it, since the 53% native status chance drives a wall-penetrating Viral explosion that clears rooms without line of sight. The one real weakness is 1% crit chance, so skip crit mods unless you’re running Arcane Avenger with Combat Discipline to force it up.

Unique trait: Delayed Viral Barb

Every shot embeds a barb that detonates 0.9 seconds later in a 1.7m radius for Viral damage, punching through walls with no line of sight needed. Scoped hits also add a separate +50% headshot bonus, so one shot lands a headshot hit plus a delayed AoE explosion.

Sporothrix is an Infested semi-auto sniper from the Deimos Isolation Vaults whose barbs detonate for wall-penetrating Viral damage, and it’s back in 2026 talk because the Coda Sporothrix variant from Warframe 1999 boosts its crit, status, magazine, and reload stats.

How to get the Sporothrix

  1. Hit Mastery Rank 13 (the Coda variant needs MR17).
  2. Farm Deimos Isolation Vault Bounties (level 50-60) on the Cambion Drift; Blueprint and components drop from vault-stage rewards at roughly a 4-12% rate depending on stage and rotation.
  3. Faster route: rank the Necraloid syndicate to Rank 3, Clearance: Odima, and buy the Blueprint (8,000 standing) plus each component (6,000 standing each) directly from their vendor.
  4. Build each piece in the Foundry, then build the assembled weapon.
  5. For the upgrade, pursue a Technocyte Coda Liche through the Warframe 1999 Liche system to get Coda Sporothrix instead of the base weapon; check your in-game Liche menu for current requirements since that system has its own separate grind.
  6. Pick up the Volatile Variant augment from the Nightwave Cred Offerings store (costs Nightwave Creds, rotates through the store).

All base parts are tradeable, so buying the Blueprint and components on the in-game trade market skips the vault or vendor grind entirely. The Coda upgrade is a separate Liche hunt, not a simple craft, so budget extra time if you want that version too.

Builds

Skip the 1% crit chance and build pure status, stacking multishot to scale the 53% base status chance and running Galvanized status mods that climb with kills. Add Cold plus Toxin for a modded Viral combo on top of the barb’s innate Viral explosion, with punch-through so shots clear cover like the explosion already does.

ModWhy it’s here
SerrationFlat +165% damage at max rank, the mandatory base-damage mod for almost any primary.
Split ChamberAn extra pellet per shot means an extra independent roll of the weapon’s already-huge 53% status chance.
Galvanized ChamberAdds more multishot plus a stacking crit chance bonus on kills, squeezing value out of even Sporothrix’s near-zero base crit.
Galvanized AptitudePushes status chance past its already-high base and extends proc duration, which matters for Viral’s time-limited damage vulnerability window.
Primed Cryo RoundsSupplies the Cold half of a modded Viral combo that stacks on top of the barb’s own innate Viral explosion damage.
Malignant ForceSupplies the Toxin half of the Viral combo and adds its own multishot bonus at max rank.
Vile PrecisionSniper-exclusive mod that cuts recoil and speeds up zoomed fire rate, keeping scoped headshots consistent for the separate +50% direct-hit bonus.
ShredAdds punch-through, fire rate, and more multishot, letting barbs punch through crowds and terrain much like the explosion already punches through walls.

Primary Deadhead is the top pick, triggering on headshot kills for up to 24 seconds of bonus primary damage to match Sporothrix’s +50% headshot bonus, while Primary Merciless is a cheaper, easier-to-farm alternative.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • 53% native status chance before a single mod is slotted, among the highest of any primary
  • Wall-penetrating, delayed AoE explosion needs no line of sight
  • Triple physical damage spread (Slash/Puncture/Impact) plus innate Viral means little gets resisted
  • 1.3 riven disposition makes rivens easy to roll into something strong
  • Works as both a precision sniper and a room-clearing status weapon at once

Cons

  • Crit chance is functionally zero (1%) without external buffs like Arcane Avenger
  • Semi-auto trigger and a 9-round mag punish spraying at fast-moving swarms
  • 0.9s detonation delay means the AoE isn’t instant unless you slot Volatile Variant
  • Base copy is a slow vault-bounty or standing grind, and the stronger Coda version needs a whole separate Liche hunt

This fits players who want sniper crowd control and status scaling instead of a pure crit-stick, and who don’t mind grinding the base weapon then the optional Coda upgrade.
