Magistar

Build it. It’s 25,000 Credits and Mastery Rank 1, so there’s no excuse not to own one. Pushing past the base Incarnon comes down to one thing: how much you like jumping into the air and flattening a room in one hit. That’s basically the whole weapon.

Unique trait: Aerial Slam Incarnon

Land a Heavy Attack at 6x combo and Incarnon Form kicks in, a 180-second damage and speed buff. Pair it with the Seismic Slam evolution and you reportedly get the largest slam radius of any melee weapon in the game. Jump into a room, flatten it, done.

The Magistar is a heavy blunt hammer. For years it was a forgettable early Mastery Rank pickup, nothing more. Then Incarnon Genesis showed up and gave it, reportedly, the biggest slam radius in the game.

Two versions exist. The base Magistar is a 25,000-Credit blueprint anyone can buy at Mastery Rank 1. Sancti Magistar trades the slam nuke for a healing passive, and getting it means grinding New Loka standing for real.

Neither hammer is impressive on its own. Not even close. With the Incarnon attached, you’re not swinging a weapon, you’re dropping a bomb from height.

How to get the Magistar

The base weapon is cheap and instant to unlock. The Incarnon upgrade and the Sancti variant both cost real time.

  1. Buy the Magistar blueprint from the Market. Costs 25,000 Credits, requires Mastery Rank 1.
  2. Gather the build resources. Needs 3 Gallium, 750 Ferrite, 300 Rubedo, and 80 Alloy Plate.
  3. Build it. Takes a 12-hour craft timer, or rush it with Platinum.

Incarnon Genesis is what actually makes this weapon worth building.

  1. Finish the prerequisites. Complete The Duviri Paradox, complete Angels of the Zariman, and unlock Steel Path.
  2. Earn it free. Cavalero at the Chrysalith offers Magistar Incarnon Genesis as a Steel Path Circuit reward on the weeks it comes up in rotation.
  3. Or buy it outright. 120 Platinum from Cavalero, which includes the install resources: 20 Pathos Clamps, 70 Dracroot, 150 Aggristone.

Sancti Magistar trades that slam nuke for a healing passive. Getting it isn’t free.

  1. Join New Loka and grind standing to Flawless rank, their maximum.
  2. Buy the Sancti Magistar blueprint from New Loka’s offerings. Costs 125,000 Standing, requires Mastery Rank 8.
  3. Build it, then repeat the Incarnon Genesis unlock above. It applies to Sancti Magistar too.

Riven disposition on the base Magistar sits at 1.35, high for a melee weapon, so a good roll pushes these numbers past most other hammers. Sancti Magistar’s disposition is reported around 1.25. That number only shows up in one source, though, so treat it as a rough guide, not gospel.

Builds

This is the Heavy Aerial Slam build. Jump, then land a Heavy Attack mid-air to trigger Incarnon Form and the Seismic Slam evolution at the same time. Everything else in the loadout is there to make that one hit bigger, and easier to repeat.

Run Dispatch Overdrive in the Exilus slot. It speeds up heavy attack wind-up and extends combo duration, and both matter when the whole build revolves around throwing heavy attacks back to back.

Evolution picks matter just as much as the mods here. This is the commonly recommended path for the slam build:

  • Tier II: Edge of Justice. +40% attack speed while the Magistar is equipped.
  • Tier III: Seismic Slam. +100% slam radius, reportedly the largest of any melee weapon.
  • Tier IV: Critical Parallel. +16% critical chance and +1.0x critical multiplier on base Magistar (+12% crit chance and +0.2x multiplier on Sancti Magistar).
ModReal effect
Primed Pressure Point+165% melee damage at max rank.
Primed Fever Strike+165% Toxin damage at max rank.
Voltaic Strike+60% Electricity damage and +60% status chance at max rank.
Amalgam Organ Shatter+85% critical damage and +60% heavy attack wind-up speed at max rank.
Galvanized Reflex+50% heavy attack efficiency, plus +20 initial combo for 20 seconds on a melee kill, stacking up to 4x.
Seismic Wave+200% slam attack damage at max rank.
Sacrificial Steel+220% critical chance, doubled on heavy attacks, and heavy attacks cost health instead of energy.
Corrupt Charge+30 initial combo, but combo duration decays 50% faster.

No arcane has a clear consensus for this build. Some guides run Arcane Melee Vortex through a companion. Others skip melee arcanes entirely and lean on Warframe-side arcanes like Energize instead. Treat it as a personal pick, not a fixed slot.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Seismic Slam evolution reportedly gives it the largest slam radius of any melee weapon, letting an Incarnon heavy slam clear a room from height.
  • Cheap, fast, low Mastery Rank entry. Craftable at Rank 1 for 25,000 Credits, no grind for the base weapon.
  • Sancti Magistar’s Incarnon Form adds a lifesteal passive on heavy hits and slam damage, giving real sustain for tanky or support play.
  • High riven disposition (1.35 on base Magistar) makes it a strong target if you want to push its numbers with a riven.
  • Incarnon Genesis is free through the Steel Path Circuit. The 120 Platinum option is a shortcut, not a requirement.

Cons

  • The slam playstyle took a real nerf. Multiple 2026 tier lists call it hard to land in Warframe’s many low-ceiling tilesets.
  • It locks you into one loop: jump, slam, repeat. Not a flexible general-purpose melee.
  • Base hammer stats outside the slam gimmick are mediocre. 0.833x attack speed and 20% base crit chance, easily outclassed by Fragor Prime or Arca Titron.
  • Sancti Magistar needs Flawless rank with New Loka, 125,000 Standing, and Mastery Rank 8 just to unlock the healing variant.
  • Community opinion is split from B-tier to S-tier depending on the source, so results vary a lot by mission type.

Good fit for anyone who wants a cheap, low-MR melee that still pulls weight in Steel Path once Incarnon Form is up. Bad fit if you want one weapon that handles everything. Outside the slam gimmick, this is an unremarkable hammer.

Sancti Magistar is worth the New Loka grind only if you genuinely want a healing melee for support frames. Otherwise build the base version, grab the Incarnon free through the Circuit, and move on.
