Build it if a Lich hands you one. It’s a legitimately strong A-tier shotgun that costs zero plat, so don’t burn hunts specifically chasing it. Kuva Sobek, Felarx, and Cedo all sit ahead of it once you’re farming Liches from scratch.
The Kohm needs about 5 rounds of continuous fire to spin up. Each shot in the chain adds another pellet, up to 12 per shot, and fire rate climbs from 0.83 rounds per second cold to 4.17 fully spooled. Any forced reload resets it straight back to zero.
The Kuva Kohm is the Lich version of the old Kohm shotgun. Same gimmick: hold the trigger and it gets meaner. It’s not the meta pick it used to be, but built and spooled, it’s still a genuinely capable weapon.
Its old reputation was built on Corrosive armor strip. That changed when Corrosive went from a permanent, stacking strip to a temporary proc, and today’s builds lean on Viral and Heat instead of dedicated Corrosive stacking. The weapon’s identity now is sustained status pressure, not a one-button armor solvent.
How to get the Kuva Kohm
You can’t buy or craft this one. It only drops when you vanquish a Kuva Lich that happens to be carrying it, and the weapon assignment is random.
- Get marked by a Grineer Kuva Lich. A Parazon-vulnerable Lich has to kill you, or you fail a stealth execution on one. Cost: none, this is just how a Lich spawns.
- Check what it’s carrying. Weapon assignment is randomized when the Lich forms, so there’s no way to target the Kohm specifically. Cost: free, pure RNG.
- Track it down and interrogate its Thralls to learn pieces of its Requiem code. Cost: time, no plat required.
- Confront the Lich with the correct Requiem mod order in your Parazon. Get it wrong and it survives with a new combo and a higher level. Cost: a correct Requiem sequence.
- Vanquish it, not convert it. Converting makes it an ally and you don’t get the weapon; vanquishing kills it and unlocks the drop. Cost: none beyond landing the kill.
- Claim the Kuva Kohm from the Foundry. Cost: free, instant claim.
Listed Mastery Rank is 13, but nothing enforces that at acquisition. A lower-MR player can vanquish a Lich carrying the Kohm and claim it from the Foundry right then, no MR check involved.
Every Kuva weapon also rolls a bonus damage type when the Lich forms: Impact, Heat, Cold, Electricity, Toxin, Magnetic, or Radiation, somewhere between 25 and 60% bonus damage. That element is set by whichever Warframe the Lich used to kill you, and Valence Fusion is how you push the bonus higher or reroll it entirely.
- Check your current element and bonus percent on the weapon in your inventory. Cost: none, just a look.
- Vanquish a second Lich carrying another Kuva Kohm. Cost: a full second Lich hunt, repeat the steps above.
- Fuse the two copies in the Foundry through Valence Fusion. The higher bonus gets multiplied by 1.1x, capped at 60%. Cost: both copies of the weapon; only one comes out the other end.
- Repeat with fresh Liches if you want to reroll the element entirely instead of just boosting the number. Cost: time and Lich RNG, no plat.

Builds
This build leans into the post-rework meta, running Viral and Heat for damage over time instead of chasing Corrosive strip. The multishot and status mods do the heavy lifting. A spooled Kohm throws 12 pellets a shot, and nearly every one of them can proc.

Arcane slot: Primary Crux. Landing a weak point hit gives +30% Status Chance and +6% Ammo Efficiency for 10 seconds, stacking up to 10 times. That covers both of the Kohm’s weak points at once: status headroom and ammo burn.
It’s a Rare arcane from The Hex, bought from Eleanor for 7,500 standing at Rank 2. You can also pull it from the 1999 Calendar or Höllvania mission drops.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- 90% base status chance on the first pellet, pushed past 300% with only a handful of mods
- Up to 12 pellets per shot at 4.17 shots/sec once spooled, turning one trigger pull into a wall of status procs
- Valence Fusion lets you reshape the bonus element (Corrosive, Viral, or Heat) instead of locking you into one identity
- Free acquisition: a guaranteed Foundry claim off any Lich carrying it, no trading and no MR gate at pickup
- Accurate enough at range once spooled to work as a mid-range status gun, not just a room-clear spray
Cons
- Ammo economy is the real weak point: the 209-round magazine burns fast at spooled fire rate, and the 836-round reserve disappears without a dedicated ammo mod
- Any forced reload resets the spool, punishing hit-and-run play and mobile fights
- Sits at A-tier behind Kuva Sobek, Felarx, and Cedo among current Steel Path shotgun picks
- Lower magazine and rougher damage falloff at range than the base Kohm; it wants close-to-mid engagements
- No Incarnon evolution exists for it, since it’s a Lich weapon rather than an Incarnon Genesis weapon
This page is for players who already have one sitting in the Foundry and want to know if it’s worth building. It is.
Just don’t burn Lich hunts specifically chasing it, since Sobek, Felarx, and Cedo all sit ahead of it if you’re farming from scratch. Feed it forma, slot Primary Crux, and it holds up fine in Steel Path.
