Build it if a glaive fits your playstyle. Innate Viral damage plus a guaranteed proc on its explosion makes it one of the best status glaives available, and heavy throw builds scale into extreme damage. The weakness is that it is still a glaive, meaning charge-and-throw timing rather than the moment-to-moment feel of a standard melee.
The glaive drops Infested pods on flight or on hitting an enemy, which hatch into short-lived Maggot creatures that latch onto and stagger nearby enemies, at the cost of no longer being a silent weapon.
Coda Pathocyst is the Technocyte Coda variant of the original Pathocyst glaive, added in the Techrot Encore update alongside the rest of the Coda weapon line.
It carries higher base damage, crit stats, and status chance than the original, plus a progenitor bonus element, which pushed it past Glaive Prime in most 2026 tier lists for pure status throw builds.
Its charged throw recall explosion deals heavy guaranteed Viral and Impact procs in an area, making it a reliable room-clear tool at endgame level caps.
How to get the Coda Pathocyst
- Finish The Hex quest.
- With no active Lich, Sister or Coda, run a Hollvania Exterminate, Hell-Scrub or Legacyte Harvest and pick up the Mixtape. Hack it (a Potency mod on success) and Arthur announces the new Technocyte Coda.
- Slot up to three Antivirus mods on the Parazon and mercy-kill Coda Duets on the band’s nodes until the right mod confirms; each hit raises the Disinfection meter, and missions on their nodes add 5 percent.
- At 100 percent, follow the Coda to Earth Proxima and finish it in a Railjack showdown for 10 to 15 Live Heartcells.
- Buy the Coda Pathocyst from Eleanor in the Hollvania Central Mall for 10 Live Heartcells. Her shop shows two batches of Coda weapons that rotate every four days, each with a random bonus element and percentage (25 to 60).
Coda members ignore the progenitor system, so the element is whatever the shop rolls; Valence Fusion merges two copies up to 60 percent and lets you keep the element you want. Rank 40 with five Forma.

Riven disposition is 0.65x, on the lower end, so a riven adds a modest boost rather than a huge one; most players prioritize the free Galvanized and Condition Overload scaling over chasing a riven here.
Builds
The standard 2026 build is a heavy-attack throw build stacking Blood Rush and Weeping Wounds off combo counter for high crit and status, Condition Overload for damage per status, and an Electric progenitor bonus or Voltaic Strike to reliably trigger Melee Influence and spread the guaranteed Viral proc from the recall explosion across a group.

Melee

Melee
| Mod | Why it’s here |
|---|---|
| Primed Pressure Point | Flat base damage increase applied before crit and status multipliers on both throw and heavy attack. |
| Blood Rush | Converts combo counter into extra critical chance, important since base crit chance is only 0.2. |
| Weeping Wounds | Converts combo counter into extra status chance on top of the already high 0.35 base. |
| Condition Overload | Adds damage per unique status effect, scaling well with the guaranteed Viral proc from the recall explosion. |
| Organ Shatter | +90% critical damage, flat. |
| Sacrificial Steel | +220% critical chance, doubled on Heavy Attacks. |
| Corrupt Charge | Starts every fight with +30 combo for an early Heavy Attack; combo decays faster in return. |
| Primed Fever Strike | Adds Toxin damage to build toward a Viral or Corrosive elemental combo on top of the innate Viral. |
Melee Influence is the strongest pick when the build carries an Electricity source: an Electricity proc spreads every elemental status on the target to enemies nearby. Arcane Strike is the cheap fallback, attack speed on hit with no setup.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- Innate Viral damage with a guaranteed proc on the recall explosion
- High base status chance of 0.35 for a melee weapon
- Miasmite pods add extra crowd control and stagger
- Strong scaling with Condition Overload and combo-based mods
- No RNG to acquire, bought directly from Eleanor
Cons
- Low 0.65x riven disposition
- Glaive playstyle requires charge-and-throw timing, not instant melee feedback
- Miasmite pods make the weapon non-silent, alerting nearby enemies
Best for players who already like glaive gameplay and want a status-focused throw weapon that clears rooms without needing a full riven investment to perform well.
