Build it, Coda Hirudo pairs a 34% crit chance with a 3.1x multiplier and a genuine life-steal passive that keeps you alive while dealing damage. It’s one of the stronger sustain melees in 2026 once the Combo Counter is rolling. Its real weakness is a short 1.25m reach, and life steal scales off damage dealt rather than a flat heal, so a weak build heals weakly too.
Critical hits heal 5% of damage dealt and grant the Invigorated buff, +5% max health for 15 seconds, stacking up to 5 times.
Coda Hirudo is the Technocyte Coda version of the Infested Hirudo sparring claws, a weapon built around leeching health on critical hits. Update 38.5 Techrot Encore gave it a real damage and crit profile to match the gimmick.
Players rate it highly in 2026 because the life steal and Invigorated max-health buff turn crit-focused melee into a self-sustain loop, useful in extended Steel Path content without relying on outside healing.
How to get the Coda Hirudo
- Finish The Hex quest.
- With no active Lich, Sister or Coda, run a Hollvania Exterminate, Hell-Scrub or Legacyte Harvest and pick up the Mixtape. Hack it (a Potency mod on success) and Arthur announces the new Technocyte Coda.
- Slot up to three Antivirus mods on the Parazon and mercy-kill Coda Duets on the band’s nodes until the right mod confirms; each hit raises the Disinfection meter, and missions on their nodes add 5 percent.
- At 100 percent, follow the Coda to Earth Proxima and finish it in a Railjack showdown for 10 to 15 Live Heartcells.
- Buy the Coda Hirudo from Eleanor in the Hollvania Central Mall for 10 Live Heartcells. Her shop shows two batches of Coda weapons that rotate every four days, each with a random bonus element and percentage (25 to 60).
Coda members ignore the progenitor system, so the element is whatever the shop rolls; Valence Fusion merges two copies up to 60 percent and lets you keep the element you want. Rank 40 with five Forma.

Riven disposition is 0.75, the same low-mid tier as most Coda melees. A riven adds real value here since the whole kit revolves around crit chance and multiplier, but it isn’t required to function.
Builds
Standard 2026 build is crit-stacking: Blood Rush and Sacrificial Steel push the 34% base crit chance into red-crit range, Organ Shatter multiplies the payout, and Killing Blow backs up the 525 Blast heavy slam. Because life steal scales with damage dealt, every damage mod doubles as a sustain mod.

Melee

Melee
| Mod | Why it’s here |
|---|---|
| Primed Pressure Point | +165% base damage, which also raises the flat amount healed back per crit since life steal is a percentage of damage dealt. |
| Blood Rush | Converts Combo Counter into critical chance, pushing the already strong 34% base toward guaranteed crits. |
| Organ Shatter | +90% critical damage, multiplying both the hit and the resulting life-steal heal. |
| Sacrificial Steel | +220% critical chance, doubled on Heavy Attacks, stacking with Blood Rush for consistent crits. |
| Killing Blow | Heavy Attacks hit for +120% and wind up faster. |
| Corrupt Charge | Starts every fight with +30 combo for an early Heavy Attack; combo decays faster in return. |
| Primed Fever Strike | Adds Toxin damage to combine with a Cold mod into Viral, doubling health damage and the resulting heal. |
| Weeping Wounds | Converts Combo Counter into status chance, helping land the Toxin/Cold combo despite the 18% base status chance. |
Arcane Fury is the top pick, a 60% chance on crit to buff melee damage for 18 seconds, directly scaling the life-steal payout since the heal is damage-based. Arcane Strike is the cheaper alternative, trading the damage buff for faster swings that land more crits per second.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- 34% crit chance with a 3.1x multiplier, among the best in its class
- Life steal plus Invigorated max-health buff give real sustain
- 525 Blast heavy slam with forced Lifted status
- 5% movement speed bonus while held
Cons
- 1.25m melee range is short
- Life steal scales off damage dealt, so a weak build heals weakly
- 18% base status chance is low if the build wants Condition Overload
Good for anyone who wants a self-sustaining crit melee that keeps them topped up through extended fights, less useful if the loadout already has strong healing elsewhere.
