Warframe Optimizer and Launcher Settings (2026): Every Gear-Menu Option and What to Set

The “Warframe optimizer” people search for is the launcher’s Optimize button: it is the old cache Defrag, renamed. Verify compares your files with Digital Extremes’ servers and repairs bad ones. Run Verify, then Optimize, after any crash, hitch or failed update. The rest of the gear menu is set once: Graphics API and GPU Preference affect FPS, the download toggles only matter when updates are slow.

Run them in this order
- Close Warframe, open the launcher and click the gear icon in the top right.
- Click Verify and wait until it finishes.
- Click Optimize. Restart the launcher when it is done.
- Set Graphics API: DirectX 12 if you have six cores or more and lose frames in crowds; DirectX 11 if you get hitches or run an older CPU.
- On a laptop with two GPUs, check GPU Preference reads High Performance.
- If updates are slow, change Bulk Download or Aggressive Download one at a time and restart the launcher after each change.
- Leave Shader Cache and Allow Network Caches on unless a specific problem points at them.
- Pick your language from the dropdown in the top right before you launch.

If you’ve worked through the settings above and still get stutter, the bottleneck is often background processes stealing CPU time from the game. Tips that save runs
- Optimize also prompts on its own after patches that reorganize the cache (DE's Update 38 and 42 notes both say so). Say yes; it is the same button.
- Old guides list a Classic engine choice, a 64-bit mode and a multithreaded rendering tickbox. Classic was retired on PC in Update 35 and 32-bit is not supported, so those guides are out of date.
- Before you file a support ticket, click Get Logs. DE support asks for the Warframe Logs folder it puts on your Desktop.
Mistakes that waste runs
- Clicking only Optimize. DE support's order is Verify first, then Optimize.
- Turning Shader Cache off to save disk space on DirectX 12. It is the setting DE added to cut loading hitches and micro-stutter on that renderer.
- Changing all the download toggles at once, then not knowing which one helped.
