The Icebind Guide (2026): Warframe’s Six-Player Cryobell Mode, Formerly Glacial Defiance
Six-player Cryobell mode, renamed The Icebind: rules, rewards, release status
Last Updated on October 1, 2026
The short answer
The Icebind, announced as Glacial Defiance, is not live yet. Digital Extremes renamed it and gave it a release date of October 7, 2026; the first window was “before or on October 15”. It is a six-player Cryobell mode that needs a full premade squad, and everything below is DE’s description, not tested play. The Narin parts people ask about do not come from it: those come from Entropic Kuva, which you can farm today.
Reviewed September 30, 2026, current through Update 44 (Iceblade of Narin). Every number on this page has two sources; this page is re-checked after every major patch.
| What DE has said | |
|---|---|
| Status | Not live yet. Delayed from the Update 44 launch (September 23), first to “before or on October 15”, then renamed The Icebind with an announced release of October 7, 2026. |
| Where | Start at Yuvan Peak, the Earth hub with Cephalon Melica. The reward chests are in the depths of the Zariman Ten Zero. |
| Players | Six Tenno, exactly. No public matchmaking and no smaller squads at launch. |
| Start | Talk to Melica and Ring the Cryobell. You get 3 Cryobells per week, and each is a mission key. |
| Requirements | Angels of the Zariman and Whispers in the Walls finished, plus Elite Deep Archimedea or Elite Temporal Archimedea unlocked. DE names no Mastery Rank. |
| Rewards | Chests in a reward room, extra rewards for the optional objective, and Riven Splicers, which only this mode gives. |
| Weekly limit | Up to three runs a week. A Cryobell is spent only when you extract successfully. |

How a run works, as DE describes it (not tested play)
- Check the gates first. DE says you need Angels of the Zariman and Whispers in the Walls done and Elite Deep Archimedea or Elite Temporal Archimedea unlocked.
- Go to Yuvan Peak, talk to Cephalon Melica and pick Ring the Cryobell. Each weekly reset you get 3 Cryobells.
- Gather a squad of exactly six. DE has said there is no public matchmaking at launch, so bring five friends.
- Each of the six picks one of their Cryobells. Each Cryobell is a random mission with a random faction, two modifiers and a Personal Burden. The squad votes on which one to run.
- Decide on the extra objective. DE says each mission has one, and if you accept it, it becomes mandatory. Finish it for extra rewards for everyone; fail it and the whole mission fails.
- Clear the main objective and extract. DE says you then enter a reward room in the Zariman, where your performance decides which chests you can open.
- A failed run does not spend the Cryobell and does not count toward the three weekly runs, so you can retry with the same key.
What the mode does and does not give you
| Reward | Comes from |
|---|---|
| Riven Splicers | Only from this mode. Riven Splicing needs them and launches with it. |
| Reward chests, extra rewards for the side objective | The reward room at the end of a successful run. DE has not published drop tables. |
| Narin and her weapons | Not from the mode. Buy the blueprints from Cephalon Melica with Entropic Kuva. |
| Entropic Kuva | Not from the mode. It drops from Entropic Eximus in Zariman missions. |
Entropic Eximus (live now, and the way to farm Narin)
- Entropic Eximus can spawn in any Zariman mission, at a higher rate than other Eximus types, and they are the only source of Entropic Kuva.
- They sit inside a nearly impenetrable shield bubble. DE's advice is to slip inside it and kill them from within.
- Primary and Secondary weapon damage against them is reduced by 90 percent, so melee is the reliable way to kill them.
- The Iceblade of Narin buff from Neote at Yuvan Peak lets melee hits break the bubble. The bubble breaking does not remove the damage resistance.
Tips that save runs
- Do the Entropic Kuva farm now in Zariman missions. It needs no six-player squad and it is where Narin's blueprints come from.
- Line up five reliable friends before launch day. With no public matchmaking at launch, an unfilled squad cannot start a run.
- DE has said the mode is meant for experienced players, so treat the first week as a learning run and expect bugs.
Mistakes that waste runs
- Waiting for Glacial Defiance to unlock Narin. Her parts are bought with Entropic Kuva, not rewarded by the mode.
- Looking for it under the old name. Search for The Icebind from October 7.
- Shooting Entropic Eximus from outside the bubble. Ranged damage is cut by 90 percent.
