The short answer
The Plains have 4 animals: Kuaka, Condroc, Mergoo and Vasca Kavat. Master Teasonai sells the Echo-Lures, but the Tranq Rifle comes from The Business in Fortuna or Son in the Necralisk. The best single capture is the Splendid Mergoo at 3,600 standing. Animals roam the Plains freely, so you can hunt without a lure.

The hunt
- Buy the Tranq Rifle from The Business or Son (500 standing). Buy Echo-Lures from Master Teasonai in Cetus.
- Open the map. Animal icons mark trail starts. With a lure equipped, only that animal's starts show.
- Interact with a start, then follow the footprints to the calling point.
- Clear Grineer near the calling point. They scare or kill the animal.
- Use a Pheromone Oota if you want a rarer subspecies, then call with the Echo-Lure.
- Get out of sight and downwind. Let flying Condroc and Mergoo land before you shoot.
- Tranq it, walk up and call the pickup. A Perfect capture pays the top standing.

What makes a capture Perfect
- The animal never sees, hears or smells you.
- Use the Tranq Rifle. Warframe abilities drop the grade to Good, except Ivara's Quiver, Navigator and Prowl, Baruuk's Lull and Equinox's Rest & Rage.
- Good means it saw or smelled you. Bad means it was hurt or you took too long.
Tips that save runs
- Kuaka come in threes at a call point. Shoot all three before any of them notices you.
- A Pheromone removes the common subspecies. You get a rare or a very rare one.
- Grineer spawns drop at night, so a Vasca Kavat hunt is quieter. Night lasts about 50 minutes of every 150.
Mistakes that waste runs
- Looking for the Tranq Rifle in Cetus. It isn't sold there.
- Shooting a Condroc or Mergoo while it's still flying. Wait for it to land at the calling point.
- Hunting Vasca Kavat by day. They only roam at night.
