Build it. It’s free off a Lich kill, hits a 47% status chance most launchers can’t touch, and Nightwatch Napalm turns it into real crowd control. It won’t dethrone Kuva Zarr on every tier list, but for the price of a Lich kill, that’s not a reason to skip it.
Every Kuva Ogris carries a bonus damage type inherited from the Lich that dropped it, worth roughly 25% to 60% extra base damage on top of its normal stats. Valence Fusion pushes that percentage toward the cap, and Elemental Vice lets you swap the element entirely once the weapon hits rank 40.
Kuva Ogris is the Lich variant of the base Ogris, a semi-auto rocket launcher that hits harder per shot. As of Update 43, September 2026, you still can’t buy or craft it. You get it by killing the right Lich, full stop.
The whole build revolves around one mod: Nightwatch Napalm. Skip it and you’ve got a solid but unremarkable AoE launcher. Run it and you’ve got fire patches that lock a room down while your team cleans up.
Full build walkthrough below.
How to get the Kuva Ogris
This isn’t crafted. It drops off a dead Lich.
- Get a Kuva Lich active on your account. Cost: none, this starts through normal Grineer missions once a Larvling spawns.
- Check what it’s carrying before you commit. Cost: none, open its info screen. If it’s not holding an Ogris, move to the next one.
- Farm murmurs and vanquish it. Cost: time only, kill its Thralls to reveal the Requiem code, land the right three Requiem mods, then choose Vanquish over Mercy.
- Claim the weapon. Cost: free, it appears directly in your Foundry with no build time and no resources.
The weapon’s own listing shows a Mastery Rank 15 requirement. Ignore it. Claiming a Lich weapon skips the MR check completely, so even a low-MR player who lands the right Lich can use it right away.
You can’t trade the weapon itself once it’s claimed. You can trade the Lich before you kill it, inside a Clan Dojo, so buying a pre-rolled Lich from someone else is a legitimate shortcut.
Stats
| Class | Primary |

| Mastery Rank | 15 |
| Trigger | SEMI |
| Noise | Alarming |
| Fire Rate | 1.5 |
| Accuracy | 100 |
| Magazine | 3 |
| Reload | 2.1 s |
| Critical Chance | 9% |
| Critical Multiplier | 2x |
| Status Chance | 47% |

|---|---|
| Impact | 18.9 |
| Puncture | 191.1 |

Riven disposition sits at 0.70x, 2 of 5 dots. That’s low. Put your Riven slot toward something with a higher disposition instead, like Kuva Zarr, unless you already own one rolled for this weapon.
Builds
This build chases two things: enough ammo to keep firing, and Nightwatch Napalm’s fire patches doing the actual crowd control. Everything else is damage scaling on top. Skip Galvanized Aptitude here: it doesn’t boost explosion damage, which is this weapon’s whole damage source, so it’s a trap despite looking like Galvanized Chamber’s cousin.

| Mod | Effect |
|---|---|
| Serration | +165% damage at max rank. |
| Heavy Caliber | +165% damage and -55% accuracy at max rank. The accuracy loss barely matters on a wide-radius explosive: it just spreads where the napalm patches land. |
| Galvanized Chamber | +80% multishot, plus an on-kill stack of +30% multishot for 20 seconds, up to 5 stacks. |
| Primed Cryo Rounds | +165% Cold damage. Pairs with Malignant Force for a Cold and Toxin combo that procs Viral, which shreds Steel Path health pools. |
| Malignant Force | +60% Toxin damage and +60% status chance. The other half of that Viral combo. |
| Primed Firestorm | +44% blast range. Bigger radius means more enemies caught per rocket, and radius is how this weapon actually scales its damage. |
| Nightwatch Napalm | Rockets leave a napalm patch that burns across roughly 90% of the blast area for 6 seconds. That’s what makes the Ogris a crowd-control weapon instead of just a burst launcher. |
| Ammo Drum | +90% ammo maximum (Exilus slot). Doesn’t touch the 3-round magazine, but it stretches the 7-round total reserve so you’re not scavenging for pickups every fight. |
Primary Merciless is the popular arcane pick here. It’s +30% damage for 4 seconds on kill, stacking up to 12 times, plus +30% reload speed per stack, and it doesn’t need headshots to trigger. This weapon racks up AoE kills fast, so stacks build quickly.
Running 1500+ Armor? Primary Bulwark is the cited swap. Some builds skip an arcane slot entirely, so treat Merciless as a strong pick, not the only correct one.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- 47% base status chance, among the highest of any launcher in the game
- Wide blast radius, roughly 7.9 meters, clears groups instead of needing precision aim
- Nightwatch Napalm turns it into real crowd control: lingering fire patches with a high chance to proc status on anything standing in them
- Free to get: no plat, no build cost, just a Lich kill, and it skips its own MR 15 requirement
- Fires while sprinting, and direct hits guarantee an Impact proc
Cons
- 3-round magazine, 7 total ammo capacity, and a smaller per-pickup refill than the base Ogris
- Self-stagger on close detonations. Get too close to your own blast and you interrupt yourself
- 0.70x Riven disposition, one of the weaker launchers to invest a Riven into
- Rockets have travel time, so it’s a poor pick against fast or lone targets despite excelling against groups
- Locked behind Lich RNG. Both the element and the exact build you want can take repeated kills to land
This is a Steel Path pick for anyone who doesn’t mind managing ammo. If you already run Kuva Zarr, you probably don’t need both. Every tier list that ranks them both puts Zarr on top.
Sources split on exactly how good Kuva Ogris is right now, S-tier on some lists, B-tier on others, but nobody’s arguing it’s bad. Free AoE crowd control is free AoE crowd control.
