Coda Sporothrix

Build and guide

Build it. A 55% base status sniper that self-primes Viral through its own explosion is rare, and the Volatile Variant augment turns every barb into a mini nuke. The tradeoff is a 5% base crit chance that needs real mod investment before the burst damage catches up to the status output.

Unique trait: Delayed Detonation

Barbs embed on impact and explode in a small AoE after a short fuse, applying an innate Viral component on top of the shot’s Slash, Puncture, and Impact. The Volatile Variant augment strips the fuse delay, adds punch through, and boosts the explosion’s radius and status chance.

Coda Sporothrix is the Technocyte Coda upgrade of the Infested explosive sniper Sporothrix, sold by Eleanor at The Hex after a Coda Lich is defeated.

It carries a higher status chance, bigger magazine, and faster reload than the base Sporothrix, and its barbs still detonate for AoE Viral damage after impact.

Players keep talking about it in 2026 because the Volatile Variant augment makes the explosion instant and much bigger, turning a single-target sniper into a crowd-clearing status weapon.

How to get the Coda Sporothrix

  1. Finish The Hex quest.
  2. With no active Lich, Sister or Coda, run a Hollvania Exterminate, Hell-Scrub or Legacyte Harvest and pick up the Mixtape. Hack it (a Potency mod on success) and Arthur announces the new Technocyte Coda.
  3. Slot up to three Antivirus mods on the Parazon and mercy-kill Coda Duets on the band’s nodes until the right mod confirms; each hit raises the Disinfection meter, and missions on their nodes add 5 percent.
  4. At 100 percent, follow the Coda to Earth Proxima and finish it in a Railjack showdown for 10 to 15 Live Heartcells.
  5. Buy the Coda Sporothrix from Eleanor in the Hollvania Central Mall for 10 Live Heartcells. Her shop shows two batches of Coda weapons that rotate every four days, each with a random bonus element and percentage (25 to 60).

Coda members ignore the progenitor system, so the element is whatever the shop rolls; Valence Fusion merges two copies up to 60 percent and lets you keep the element you want. Rank 40 with five Forma.

0.95 riven disposition is high for a sniper, so a riven is worth chasing here since rolls land close to their potential. The base 5% crit chance means most rivens should be hunted for crit chance or status chance stats rather than crit damage.

Builds

Run a status build around the 55% base status chance and the Volatile Variant augment, stacking multishot and status chance mods so the explosion procs multiple elements per shot. A secondary crit chance investment via Point Strike and Critical Delay pushes the 5% base up to where the 3x multiplier starts contributing real damage on top of the status ticks.

ModWhy it’s here
SerrationFlat rifle damage bonus that scales everything else in the build.
Split ChamberMultishot means two barbs and two explosions per trigger pull instead of one.
Galvanized ChamberAdds multishot, and every kill stacks more multishot for a while.
Point StrikeRaises crit chance off the very low 5% base so crits start happening at all.
Vital SenseCrit damage bonus that matters more here since the base multiplier is already 3x.
Critical DelayTrades fire rate the weapon barely uses in semi-auto for a large crit chance boost.
Hunter MunitionsSlash procs from the 42% slash split trigger guaranteed finisher damage on top of the explosion.
Primed Cryo RoundsAdds Cold damage to complete a Viral combo with a Toxin bonus element for stronger status ticks.

Primary Merciless is the top pick, stacking bonus damage per kill for Steel Path. Primary Crux, from The Hex, is the cheaper alternative and its weak-point status bonus suits a status build like this one.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • 55% base status chance before mods, easily over 100% with basic investment
  • Innate AoE explosion adds free Viral priming to every shot
  • 0.95 riven disposition, high for a sniper
  • Volatile Variant augment turns it into a crowd-clear weapon
  • Bigger magazine and faster reload than the base Sporothrix

Cons

  • 5% base crit chance needs heavy investment to matter
  • Semi-auto trigger makes it slower to use than automatic status primers
  • Explosion fuse delay hurts moving or fast-dying targets without the Volatile Variant augment
  • Volatile Variant is a rotating Nightwave Cred item, not always available to buy

Best for players who already have a Coda Lich farmed and want a status sniper that doubles as light AoE clear once the Volatile Variant augment is equipped.
