Akarius Prime

Build and guide

Build it. The Akarius Prime offers exceptional area-of-effect damage with homing projectiles. Its primary weakness is a small magazine and high ammo consumption.

Unique trait: Sprint Reload

Reloading while sprinting grants a +50% reload speed bonus, increasing to +100% when used by Gauss or Gauss Prime.

The Akarius Prime is the Primed version of the Akarius dual burst-fire rocket launchers. It boasts improved damage, critical chance, critical multiplier, status chance, explosion radius, reload speed, ammo maximum, and ammo pickup.

This weapon fires rockets that home in on enemies within a 15-degree cone. These rockets explode in a 7.8-meter radius upon impact, with the initial hit and explosion applying status effects separately. The explosion does not require line of sight and can penetrate walls.

The Akarius Prime was released alongside Gauss Prime and Acceltra Prime. It deals primarily Blast damage, which is generally less effective against armored targets but can be useful for crowd control.

How to get the Akarius Prime

  1. The Akarius Prime is vaulted: its relics no longer drop in missions. Open relics you already own, buy them for Aya when Prime Resurgence lists it, or buy the parts for platinum.
  2. Barrel: Lith O4, Neo A12, Neo A13, Neo D10, Neo M6 and 3 more (vaulted relics).
  3. Link: Lith A11, Lith R5, Meso N17, Meso P16, Meso T7 and 2 more (vaulted relics).
  4. Blueprint: Meso A11, Meso A7, Neo A11 (vaulted relics; the rare slot in Meso A11, Meso A7).
  5. Receiver: Lith A10, Lith A6, Lith A7, Lith A8, Neo G10 (vaulted relics; the rare slot in Lith A10, Lith A6).
  6. Run the fissure tier that matches each relic, refine the rare part’s relic to Radiant, and pick the best of the four results with a squad.
  7. Build the parts, then the weapon: 12 hours each, or rush with platinum.

The Akarius Prime has a low riven disposition of 0.65, indicating that rivens for this weapon will provide minimal stat boosts. This disposition reflects its strong base performance.

Builds

Given its 18% critical chance and 34% status chance, a hybrid build is viable. Focus on increasing critical stats and status chance to maximize both direct damage and proc potential from the large explosions. The wide area of effect benefits from mods that increase explosion radius.

Secondary Merciless is the pick: stacking damage on kills with faster reloads. Secondary Encumber for a status build (a chance at a second random proc), Secondary Deadhead if you land headshots.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Wide blast AoE (7.8m) with wall penetration
  • Homing projectiles mitigate accuracy penalties
  • Initial hit and explosion apply status separately
  • Reload speed bonus while sprinting
  • High base damage and good critical/status chances

Cons

  • Projectiles have travel time
  • Explosion inflicts self-stagger
  • Small magazine size (8 rounds, 4 bursts)
  • Extremely low ammo capacity

The Akarius Prime is a powerful secondary weapon for clearing groups of enemies due to its large area-of-effect explosions and homing projectiles. While it suffers from self-stagger and a small magazine, its high damage potential and unique reload mechanic make it a strong contender for many loadouts, especially when paired with Gauss.
