The short answer
Deimos animals pay tags, not standing: Perfect gives 3, Good 2, Bad 1. Buy the Tranq Rifle and Cryptilex Echo-Lure from Son. For a Predasite or Vulpaphyla companion, catch a weakened one: let Infested enemies wound it first, then tranq it and take it to Son for Revivification.

The hunt
- Buy the Tranq Rifle and a Cryptilex Echo-Lure from Son in the Necralisk (500 standing each, Neutral).
- Check whether Fass or Vome is up. Each brings different rare subspecies (table below).
- Open the map, pick a trail start, and follow the footprints to the calling point.
- For a companion, lure Infested enemies to the calling point first, then call and let them wound the Predasite or Vulpaphyla.
- Use a Pheromone Gland for rarer subspecies, then call with the Echo-Lure.
- Stay out of sight and tranq it. Predasite and Undazoa take two shots, and a Panzer Vulpaphyla takes three.
- Walk up and call the pickup. Take weakened Predasites and Vulpaphylas to Son.

Weakened companions
- Only Predasites and Vulpaphylas can be weakened.
- Infested enemies attack them near the calling point. That wounds them.
- DE cut wild Predasite and Vulpaphyla health, so you don't wait long for the wound.
- Capture the weakened one and Son turns it into a companion through Revivification.
Tips that save runs
- Predasites shrug off abilities: sleep lasts a quarter as long. Use the Tranq Rifle.
- DE added extra call points around the Magna, Infested Seraglio, Undulatum and Albrecht's Prospect.
- Ivara's Sleep Arrow and Baruuk's Lull don't lower the capture grade.
Mistakes that waste runs
- Catching a healthy Predasite or Vulpaphyla when you want a companion. Only the weakened ones work.
- Looking for a standing payout. Deimos animals pay tags.
- Waiting for a Sporule Avichaea while Fass is up. It only appears during Vome.
