The short answer
Phorid is not on the star chart until an Infested invasion takes a planet’s Assassination node. Once it does, the fight is short: any well built weapon kills it, and it takes extra Slash and Heat. It drops Nyx parts.

The fight, step by step
- Open Invasions and look for an Infested invasion listed as a Phorid Manifestation. It sits on a planet's Assassination node.
- Launch that node before the invasion is over. Outbreaks spread until they reach a boss node.
- Bring a maxed weapon with Slash or Heat. Phorid dies in a few shots to a strong one.
- Watch for the Sonic Scream. It stuns, so do not stand in the open when it starts.
- Dodge or take cover from the homing missiles as they come in.
- Kill it and reach extraction for the Nyx part.
